I am looking to collect the most g1 accurate toys from the cartoon. Which figures are the most accurate? I am specifically looking for an accurate soundwave but am wondering your thoughts on others as well. Thanks!

    What line? Classics?

Most accurate update of Soundwave is Music Label Soundwave with Reprolabels. Just about as perfect as you can get if your talking about classics line.

Basically any line. I am just wanting to collect the most cartoon accurate figures available the only stipulation I have on that is that it has to transform I don't want just a statue. Thanks for the feedback so far!

g1 shockwave's toy is probably the best cartoon acurate figure from the g1 line.

While a lot of the Classics-verse are great updates to the G1 series, I think the ones most spot-on G1 cartoon accurate figures would have to be...

Classics/Generations Seekers (easily THE most accurate toon-to-toy depictions imo)
    Universe Cyclonus
    Generations Jazz
    Generations Wreck-Gar
    Generations Perceptor (bot mode)

Each of those guys look like they almost stepped right out of the cartoon.

And while not perfect, but as close as they'll probably get in terms of overall toon accuracy, I'd also suggest these runner-ups...

    Universe Prowl/Silverstreak/Smokescreen
    Titanium Scourge
    Classics Jetfire
    Music Label Soundwave
    Universe Sunstreaker

And of course Masterpiece Prime, Grimlock & Megatron - Prime & Grimlock being two of the all time best imo.

In terms of accuracy, I would say that Masterpiece Grimlock is the most accurate figure to his animated model

Henkei Silverbot deserves a mention, his bot mode is pretty spot-on to animation.

Eh, I think he's more spot-on to his former G1 toy, but not really the animation model. Definitely close, though. I had considered mentioning him along with Universe Sideswipe, Henkei Hound & Henkei Astrotrain, but overall I think they're still too updated design wise to really consider toon accurate. But that's just me.

Masterpiece Grimlock is IMO the most accurate toy to cartoon figure there is. Though I see that a lot of the CHUG figures look very toon-accurate as well.

In terms of G1 cartoon accuracy i would recommend any Henkei figure. I do like my classics to be cartoon accurate and i am very happy with every single henkei i have ever bought. Transformers United Blurr needs an honorable mention; an amazing figure in person.

Universe 2.0: Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Prowl, Blustreak, Ratchet, Ironhide and Hound, Bumblebee
Classics/Robots in Disguise: Optimus Prime(henkei's more accurate though), Mirage
    Henkei: Cliffjumper and Brawn
    R.T.S.: Wheeljack and Jazz

If you can't find the Henkei or Universe 2.0 Cosmos, Wheelie, Beachcomber and Brawn, Igear will be making Huffer, Pipes, Seaspray, Beachcomber, Brawn, Wheelie, Powerglide and Cosmos
Also, check out the masterpieces as well. Happy Hunting.

Pardon me if I go all Bill Clinton on this... but it depends on what your definition of G1 is... do you mean the Cartoon G1, the Toy G1, or the Comic G1? The toys and cartoons had a good deal of deviation... the comics initially ran with toy-accurate designs, but at times clashed with the cartoon, or even prototype images for figures.

    I would say...

    1) Classics Rodimus (even better to get the 2 pack with Cyclonus)
    2) Classics Cyclonus
    3) Classics Hound
    4) MP Skywarp/Starscream
