But think I can mostly skip season 3 right? the only exceptions I cna think of are "Dark Awakening", "Starscream's Ghost", "Ghost in the Machine" "Only Human" and of course "The Return of Optimus Prime"

The only one I can think of is the one where the quintessons bring Optimus Prime back to life and he beats the crap out of Hot Rod.

 

Forever is a Long Time Coming. Best G1 ep there is, except maybe Auto-bop.

I heartily recommend 'Carnage in C-Minor'. Be sure to videotape and post her reaction to the episode.

 

From the list in the opening post, I'd subtract "Only Human" and replace it with "Webworld". Possibly add in "The Killing Jar". Other than those, Season 3 was pretty bad, IMO.

 

I would definitely add Webworld. Tell her it was written by Diane Duane. If she's ever read any science fiction, chances are she knows who Diane Duane is.

I also like The Burden Hardest to Bear.

And watch Call of the Primitives. On mute.

 

I'd add Face of Nijika, but that's one of my favorites in that season. Honestly, I'd have her watch everything and let her come to her own conclusions about the series really.

five faces of darkness (ep 4 in particular)
ghost in the machine - starscream's ghost is kinda confusing and random
forever is a long time coming
call of the primitives - if only for the great animation
fight or flee - kind of a twisted ending
grimlock's new brain - nice piece based on a classic story (i think)
webworld - great for psych majors
money is everything - found this to be a fun s3 ep
burden hardest to bear and ultimate weapon - some characterization for rodimus
dark awakening - wait for it...
return of optimus prime!!

 

Good one, lol! Actually, I read somewhere that this episode had just as many mistakes as the average season 3 episode, it's just that the were so appalling and that's why this is rated as probably one of the worst TF episodes, ever.

My favourite season 3 episodes (I would add are):

Call of the Primitives
Grimlock's New Brain
The Return of Optimus Prime 1&2

 

The Five Faces of Darkness is bad, but important at the same time.

 

Webworld ... and some more.

Call of the Primitives is pretty to look at.  

 

Ultimate Weapon, Burdon Hardest to Bear, Dweller in the Depths...that's about it IMO. Season 3 overall had some good writing but god awful animation. The exception of course being Call of the rimitives which had mind-blowingly awesome animation and a terrible plot that made no sense whatsoever. I'm sure I'll get flak for it but Season 3 would have been MUCH better if they never forced Optimus Prime back into it.

 

My wife (who has a couple of TFs of her own, has seen the movies and a couple Animated and Beast Wars eps) has just recently seen a couple of G1 episodes(season 1) and she says that if you are trying to get someone into transformers do NOT start with G1.
Yes it's important for the references and the history but start with Beast Wars or even Animated - something more current...
Then if she has questions show her G1

but Webworld? Dweller in the Depths? wasn't expecting those on the list

 

yeah she's watched "more than meets the eye"...and asking how Megatron and Soundwave get small enough to be picked up by a human...and she has seen the live action films
