Yes we have insecticons but we havent seen bombshell, kickback, and shrapnel for a long time. It wouldnt be hard to establish them if the insecticons shown were mere copies/drones of the originals. And if i remember correctly, shrapnel has been mentioned in fall of cybertron which is still technically part of this canon. What does anyone else think?

 

I get why we they decided to go with a generic repeatable CGI model in the form of one Insecticon (it's all about cost savings... grumble-mumble) who can act as cannon fodder, similar to the Vehicon/Jeticon troops, but I agree that it would be nice to see some variation on these guys. Truth be told I would have rather seen Kickback than this more generic bug who doesn't even have a name apparently.

In the end I think we'll all learn a lot more about their plans for the Insecticons following the aftermath of Saturday's episode- Armada. Not sure why I think this, but I have a feel we'll be back to one Insecticon and that he'll be a perm part of the cast somehow.

It's a possibility. There may be two types of Insecticons - the mass produced drones, and the individual ones with personalities, which Airachnid seems to be. At the very least, she is part Insecticon.

But realistically, I don't think we will see Kickback, Shrapnel, and Bombshell as individuals. My reasoning is that the TFP Insecticon design seems to be a homage to all three G1 Insecticons in of itself.

 

I would like to see an intelligent Bob. Maybe they can pull a Dreadwing and give us a permanent addition to the Cons' ranks.

I think chances are low to none.

 

The insecticon beasts we got looks like a mix of all three insecticons design wise. I think that is kind of hinting towards "no we will not".

 

I'd love to see them as generals of the Insecticon army arragned by Shockwave and possibley Airachnid being a general once which could explain her power over the Insecticons but it seems unlikely. However Shockwave still has a good chance to show up.

 

I too would love to see them as Airachnid's peers in being able to control Insecticons. However, three molds for characters we honestly probably wouldn't see often seems extremely unlikely.

 

Sadly, the same chance at Cliffjumper coming back or the Autobots getting a new bot.

 

The chances just don't seem very high. The 3rd party companies have some interesting ideas for Kickback, Shrapnel, and Bombshell as individuals but is seems Hasbro is kind of dead set on Insecticons being a generic term for a generic style trooper.

I blame Waspintor. Thanks to him insect Transformers get no respect. The spiders get some stuff because Hasbro must think spiders are still cool, but the insects haven't been getting much loving.
