I've got my eye on Optimus, WHeeljack/Grimlock, or Mirage/Rodimus. But out of all the Alternators, or the ones I just listed, which are the ones worth getting? If any, who lives up to the price tag?

I haven't met an Alternator I haven't liked, but the best is Mirage/Rodimus. I am, however, entirely biased by the fact that I absolutely love the look of the Ford GT.

Mirage/Rodimus and Grimlock/Wheeljack. The former is one of the crown jewels of the Alternators, the latter is a pain in the ass to transform but has amazing poseability in robot mode.

Of the Optimus Prime mold, the Nemesis Prime repaint actually works better with the mold from what I've seen, but poseability with that mold is somewhat restricted due to all the kibble.

    Some of my favorites:

    -Mirage
    -Jazz
    -Tracks
    -Skids
    -Silverstreak

I also really like Rumble, but it doesn't really fit in with any other line like those listed above do with Masterpiece figures.

Well I generally like the Binaltechs better, but here are my favorites (in order more or less):

    Mirage (alt)
Prime (BT)- I think the alt version is kind of ugly
Ravage (alt) the jaguar, not battle ravage the corvette
    Rodimus (BT)
    Jazz (BT)
    Nemesis Prime
    Skids

My favorites are probably Grimlock, Rodimus, Mirage, and Prime. If I REALLY had to choose 1, I would probably go with Rodimus.

The Subaru's are great, and pretty affordable. (Silverstreak, Smokescreen, and Ricochet)

The RX-8's are nice too (Jazz/Shockwave - he looks the best in this mold [IMO])

The Jeeps are nice, and affordable too (Hound, Swindle, and Rollbar)

Jag Ravage is really nice, but can get pricey.

If you are going after Rodimus/Hot Rod, be very careful....there is a very good KO out there....very hard to tell the difference. I believe Protoman did a video review on how to tell the difference between the two.

They're both great individually, but a little too big for me with Megatron and the Seekers.

    BT:
Smokescreen, Silverstreak, and BTA Prowl, Jazz, Hound, Skids, Tracks, Zoom Zoom, and Dead End.

Alt: Sideswipe, Jaguar Ravage, Nemesis Prime, Camshaft, and Decepticharge.

Gives you a fair number of the 1984 Autobots and you can use Nemesis Prime, Decepticharge, Zoom Zoom, Dead End and Camshaft as stand in Stunticons alongside the MP figures.

    - Ravage (Jaguar XK version)

IMHO the best Molds are the Subaru and the RX-8. They make the best characters partly because they are who they were designed to be, IE the RX-8 was meant to be Jazz (after scrapping the Porsche concept), and the Subaru was meant to be Smokescreen. To much of the line is just a bunch of after thought re-purposing. Trailbreaker made into Prime, I mean come on... That said the Alt/BT line is what got me back into Transformers, and I will always love it.

Same here! I had few figures in a tv cabinet that i had always kept around from when i was young. Then I came across silverstreak. That brought me right back into the fandom. This line was amazing to me and theres not a figure in it that I dislike.

I'll echo others in saying from an "enjoyment standpoint", the Subaru based figures (Smokescreen, Silverstreak, Ricochet) and the Mazda RX-8 based figures (Jazz/Meister and Shockwave/blast) are the better options.

Personally, though, I think just about every character done in Alternators got superior and more enjoyable toys via the Classics line and its derivatives. Going into Alternators, I'd say go after car modes you really did, not so much for the characters.

Again, for affordability and enjoyment, I think Silverstreak is one of the better options. Grimlock, while having a spiffy alt mode (I wouldn't mind seeing him remade in a Mustang/Charger alt mode again, I have a soft spot for the modern Mustang to begin with), is one of the most frustrating Transformers I've seen below the MP pricepoint. Mirage looks BEAUTIFUL in both modes, but he is also rather complex and a bit pricey given the Ford GT mold only got one mass retail release.

Can't comment on Skids, didn't get him. Prime is okay, but has that "empty torso" thing going on. Again, if you really like red pick up trucks, I'd say go for him.

Between Alternators and Binaltech, I'd skew towards Alts myself, the metal on BTs increase stress on the joints and are prone to scratching, just due to the nature of the things. Alts will probably last a bit longer and will cost you less to begin with.
