Exactly what the thread title asks: would you want some kind of Elite Guard in TF3? i think it would be a cool way to bring in more Autobots, like Wheeljack, Magnus, Hound, etc. maybe make the wings on the symbol cybertronian-esque, and IMHO it could work out well. only trouble then would be getting them all characterization...

For me, the whole concept of the Elite Guard comes off as a watered-down take on the Wreckers, so I'd have to say no.

    Wreckers, on the other hand...

A subgroup would imply that there are enough Autobots left for some of them to be specialists.

I'd think that the Elite Guard USED to be around, and was destroyed with the Decepticon insurrection. I agree with the others for a "Wreckers", basically some few Autobots that, at first, had to just survive by hitting hard. For a while, they were on their own, and developed maybe guerilla-like tactics. Eventually making contact with other Autobots then "officially" forming the name "The Wreckers". They recently heard the call from Optimus from the first movie, as they were further away than where The Twins, the bike sisters, Jolt were from, so it took them a bit longer to get it.

They come to Earth to offer their help, then kick major ass!

    ROADBUSTER FOR TF3, GODDAMNIT!!!

maybe not specificaly the Elite Guard, but more a troup of autobots, all more warrior type bots (as apposed to Skids and Mudflap). i just picked the term Elite Guard over Wreckers as Elite Guard, to the simple-minded masses, sounds more like something the good guys would have, as apposed to Wreckers, which sound more Decepticonish (again-to the masses).

The Elite Guard worked well in Animated, but I doubt it would work this well in the movies. The whole "we come here and do whatever we want because we're better than you" most of them had in the Animated show wouldn't work in the movies where it was shown that Optimus has full leadership of the Autobots. And besides, we already had humans that acted like this (I'm looking at you, Galloway).

Wreckers, on the other hand, could work. Yes, it sounds more Decepticon-ish, but it also sounds more badass. They could be a small but strong team of warriors that has been hunting Decepticons on other worlds, received Optimus' message and arrived to Earth in order to wait for Decepticons and destroy them where they never thought they would be. Members could include Springer, Ultra Magnus, Roadbuster, Prowl, etc.

I donno if I'd agree with that. The Elite Guard were more of like high ranking military officers, while the Wreckers were more of like the Autobot variation of the A-team.

As for the idea of the Elite Guard in the movie-verse, I don't really think it'd work. In the movie it seems the war on cybertron left their social structure and anykind of government in ruin, so it's really just two armies now, led solely by Prime and Megatron.

I could kinda see the wreckers being in the film, but really it wouldn't be all that different from what NEST already is.

Wreckers would be cool, but for me, any subgroup of Autobots introduced in 3 might come off as rushed. We haven't seen any new group in the past 2 movies, just a few new Autobots individually.

Maybe a gestalt team might be good, but for me, any new subgroup might come off as rushed. I mean guys like Sideswipe and Jolt were barely in the movie but were new too; I imagine if they were part of a group, the group would be shafted for screentime too.

Do we really NEED several more characters whose personalities can be summed up with "lol, I am a badass. Watch me do badass things. lol."?

I like the idea of it... but I simply don't see enough Autobot characters in TF3 to make a sub-group.

There are more individual characters I'd like to see as themselves, before I'd like to see a group.

I think the Wreckers deserve their own movie/movies.

Not feeling the Elite Guard, but I would love to see the Wreckers in the movie verse. Whoever said the Elite Guard is like a watered-down version of the Wreckers, I agree. I personally like to think of the Wreckers as kind of a robotic version of the Inglourious Basterds...okay, well, more or less anyway...

No Elite Guard. Hound, he should be part of NEST, same as Sentinel, and Magnus

So the Autobots we have already and the human military are already slaughtering Decepticons left and right and you want to bring in an elite force so that they have even less of a chance of doing anything more than killing off some nameless extras who might not even get their name in the credits? Bumblebee is already the Transformers version of Snake Eyes and Wolverine and you want even more killing machines thrown in on the good guy side?

If anything in the films needs an elite fighting force it's the Decepticons. They really need some hard core bots that can give you that nice tension of maybe the good guys will not win this time instead of that feeling it's just a forgone conclusion the good guys will wipe them out down to just Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave. And even then you feel like it's get out the hell out of Dodge and stay in space that kept Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave from being slaughtered like the other Decepticons.

screw the elite guard...they got owned and destroyed once by the decepticons...we really do not need another botcon comic story book with Kup narrating yet another failure of the elite guard fighting decepticons....god that botcon set sucked ass except for scourge...
