So what? That means absolutely nothing if the characters' voices sound different.

I accualy like the Dr. Claw voice on Soundwave. Way more threatening than ol' G1 SW's voice.

When I heard the G1 transforming sound in the 1st film, it was awesome!

    Soundwave sounded like Dr. Claw.

In G1 Soundwave sounds like creepy old smoker guy with the trech thing to his neck cause his vocal cords are damaged from years of smoking. Dr. Claw Soundwave sounds like creepy stalker guy on the phone with a 13 year old girl. I guess it boils down to if you like smoking or stalking.

    Welllllll.... yes and no.

No, he didn't sound like G1 Soundwave or Prime Soundwave (who should be called 'Playback" IMO).

But, apparently he does sound like Movieverse Soundwave.

Now, if you ask me, G1 sound's way cooler, cold and wicked. But that's just 1 man's opinion.

I'm almost afraid to ask which one you are into... o_O

Soundwaves G1 voice would have sounded stupid in a live action movie and the general public wouldn't take it seriously. How many times have we heard that voice in robot spoofs and kids films?

Why don't they just make him a 30-foot tall tape deck while they're at it? That won't look stupid at all!

Who listens to tapes anymore? Plus I don't think they make tapes anymore.

I think the vocoder effect could work on Soundwave as long as it was more subtle like in that Digital Domain demo reel, and not as heavy as it was in Animated and even G1.

I agree with everyone. I think Soundwave would have sounded pretty cool like he did in G1. But by no means not everything in G1 would work for the movie. I'm just saying little things and of course things would sound corny if they tried to do it that way. Thanks for all the feedback. I'm glad theirs alot of people out there that have the same passion as I do.

Listen to the new commercial on the front page: around 30 or so, you hear a "glimpse" of the old transforming sound.
