So, I hadn't really made up my mind if I was going to get Soundwave or not, and then I decided to make him into a character based on one of my WFC multiplayer color schemes. Problem was, the two colors made him look Jokerish (green/purple) in the game...when you could actually SEE the colors. So, I decided to go with purple/green but take the colors a different route. Decided on royal plumb and jade, giving him a bit of a G2-ish feel. (yeah, WFC combined with G2. Whatever, I liked how the colors looked ) Anyway, I'd also decided I was going to swap out the head, since it was too "Soundwave" looking. I also decided I was going to mod the chestplate for the same reasons. Eventually, it all came together, and I got this: The chestplate is actually a personally recast chest panel from a Gundam EZ-8 1/144 model kit. The original plate felt like a perfect fit, but I didn't want to ruin it, so I made a cast and modded that instead. The head is from a leftover Mega-Octane figure, plus two random pieces from a Zoids parts tree that I cut and shaped into horns. I really love how it turned out--the neck was a loose fit, but the paints helped make it tighter. And if we're talking WFC, we need us some neon effects! I didn't actually have "purple" in neon paint, so I mixed some neon pink and neon blue. I didn't think to paint the parts a bright pink before applying the neon paint (to make it stand out without the blacklight) until way too far into the applications. And this stuff isn't the easiest stuff to work with. It's very fickle about applying neatly and evenly--lots of swirls that get picked up when seen with the UV effects. In the areas where I wanted the glow but were on lighter colored surfaces, I painted the royal plumb in as a back filler. At least this way, it's all "dark" when not lit. In the end, I guess I have a bit of an "ON" "OFF" look to the toy. And car mode: The new plate leaves a gap for the old chestpanel to work as a windscreen. So you still have a bit of a cockpit feel for the car/truck/vehicle/wheeliething. Also still opens and closes. No seats inside or anything--not sure if I'll do that or not. (though it is a good idea) And, effects! Really shows off well in vehicle mode. So yeah, there he is! My own WFC character, just because. I'll end this with a few 'dark' shots to show off the neon paint a bit more. Hope you enjoyed!
