After watching all the cut scenes from Fall of Cybertron on YouTube I have an even longer list of reasons why War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron can NOT be prequels to Prime. Also the topic title has a spoiler warning in it so if you have a problem with spoilers it's your own fault for clicking on this topic in the first place. You don't want spoilers, stop reading this and click the back button.

    1. In Prime Orion Pax and Megatronus went before the council and Megatronus stormed off all mad when Orion Pax was named the next Prime. If WfC/FoC there's no mention of Megatron ever going by the name Megatronus and he was not at the council meeting. Orion Pax was only named Optimus Prime after Megatron killed Zeta Prime. It's never really stated that Optimus was ever Orion Pax but Megatron does hint that he once went by a different name when they finally meet in FoC.

    2. WfC Arcee is clearly based on her G1 name sake while Prime Arcee has a totally different personality.

    3. There is no Bulkhead in WfC/FoC. Prime Bulkhead stated that he joined team Prime before coming to Earth which means that he should of met up with Optimus in FoC but never did.

    4. Ratchet's back story in Prime of failing to repair Bumblebee's voice box NEVER HAPPENED. For further explanation, read the next part on the list

    5. In Prime it shows that Ratchet was there to attend to Bumblebee after he was injured by Megatron. Optimus was not there and this happened on Cybertron. In FoC Bumblebee jumps in between Optimus and Megatron sacrificing his life to save Prime's. He's very clearly shot in the chest, not the throat. Ratchet is not there and this happens on the hull of the Ark.

    6. Cliffjumper does have a head design based off his Prime counterpart but that's the ONLY similarity between the two characters. His voice doesn't sound even remotely close to being the same character, and there's no relationship with Arcee. He's a totally different character.

    7. Megatron is killed in FoC. Soundwave builds him a new body and infuses it with Dark Energon to bring him back to life. If this were in continuity with Prime he would be a mindless zombie like Cliffjumper and Skyquake.

    8. In WfC Starscream was the one who guarded the Dark Energon but in Prime he had clearly never seen Dark Energon before. To add to this FoC Starscream betrays Megatron and is left on Cybertron. He could of found his own way to Earth or stowed away on board the Nemesis but either way he would have been abandoned by the Decepticons LONG before the events of "Partners" plus Prime Starscream stated in "Masters and Students" that he studied for a millennium under Megatron but he had only recently joined the Decepticons in WfC. Soundwave would of actually been under Megatron's command long before Starscream joined.

    9. WfC/FoC Soundwave is clearly based on his G1 name sake with a totally different personality than his Prime counterpart. He actually talks for crying out loud.

    10. There is no Knock Out in FoC/WfC. And given Soundwave was able to build Megatron an entirely new body and bring him back from the dead why would they need him in Prime in the first place?

    11. WfC Breakdown is a skinny little scout class Decepticon. Prime Breakdown is a huge Bruiser. They're obviously completely different characters.

    12. In FoC Hardshell gets killed by Grimlock. He could never of even appeared in Prime at all if he was already dead. Not to mention his voice in FoC is clearly inspired by G1 Bombshell while Prime Hardshell had a more original take on the Insecticon's voice. They're obviously two different characters.

    13. In FoC Megatron gives the order to leave Trypticon in stasis and have his chassis converted into the Nemesis. In "Flying Mind" Megatron seems totally unaware that his ship was ever alive in the first place. Also while many fans like to call his ship the Nemesis I don't think it's ever been named in the Prime cartoon. Even if they do call it the Nemesis and reveal it to be Trypticon it still would not be in continuity because of the fact Prime Megatron doesn't know that his ship is Trypticon.

There you go, thirteen reasons why WfC/FoC can not be in continuity with Prime.

I wonder how many characters from MTMtE never show up in WfC/FoC. Guess it's not G1 either.

Teletran-1 refers to Optimus as Orion Pax before correcting itself. Megatron alludes to his time as Orion at least twice during the campaign. Megatron is also referred to as Megatronus at least once by Optimus, I believe.

A Transformer can't change their alternate mode or reformat over a period of millions of years?

No, it didn't have to show up in FOC. They just didn't show Bulkhead. Big deal.

Ratchet mentions at the start of the campaign that his voice box is already broken. Bee never speaks during FOC. The hit Bee takes from Megs is another wound entirely.

Yes, because a character isn't voiced by the same person twice means they're completely different.

The writers of Prime state that Dark Energon functions differently in WFC/FOC from Prime because they take place in "different eras."

There's no indication that the wormhole the characters disappear into Takes them directly to Earth, since it was falling apart. WFC/FOC takes place ages ago: much more than a millennium. Shockwave finds dinosaurs on Earth running around and uses them as templates for the Dinobots (though I believe a High Moon guy said that WFC/FOC doesn't take place 65 million years ago).

Where do you see a personality besides loyalty to Megatron and his own Deployers? It's mentioned by Prime promotional material that Soundwave used to speak before becoming silent before they got to Earth.

Ugh. Just because they appear in one piece of media doesn't mean they must by law appear in all others. I don't remember Soundwave appearing in the Prime prequel comic; clearly this is a different canon!

Knock Out was brought in to repair Megatron. Soundwave by Prime has become a spy/communications officer. Soundwave acted because Starscream ran the Decepticons into the ground, doing what was necessary. Knock Out is an accomplished medic; hence why he's brought in to work on Megs.

See my answer to Cliffjumper and Arcee.

Who said he died? Grimlock defeated him and moved on. The Insecticons are some hardass Decepticons. Transformers in Prime have survived worse.

Okay. A few ground things to remember.

    1. Different voice does not equal different character.
    2. Different design does not equal different character.
    3. A character does not have to be seen in ALL media of a franchise to exist. Yoda didn't appear in A New Hope but he appeared later in The Empire Strikes Back, didn't he?
    4. People change. Transformers change. That's why they're called Transformers. In DOTM, Ratchet has a green color scheme instead of yellow. In Prime, Optimus goes from peaceful to trying to end the war and kill Megatron at any chance he gets. They're still not different characters.
    5. Why retell Bumblebee losing his voice if the show has already shown it? Hell they copied the backstory word for word from the films, even the films told it already. The same goes for Optimus and Megatron's story as Orion Pax and Megatronus, which was covered extensively in Prime already.
    6. I get it if you're not getting the game, but don't make all these crazy assumptions if you haven't played it or watched a walk through or something.

Even within it's own context this doesn't make sense, because Dark Energon only reanimates corpses. Megatron was rebuilt into a healthy, living body. Not a ravaged husk without any trace of life in it.

As much as Prime likes to play fast and loose with it's own rules these days, Dark Energon's effects on the living verses the dead have always been pretty consistent.

I made a thread to collect all debates in the Video Games forum, in an attempt to condense all the arguing to one place.

Really, if any slight inconsistency equals immediate break in canon, then nothing is in continuity with anything.

everything chopperface said is correct ... Lol FoC / wfc are def not G1 but an homage 2 G1 using the aligned story bible. things can be diff but generally most things are the same. design styles don't mean shit either, rescue bots and prime have been stated multiple times too be directly connected while prime an FoC / wfc have been stated to just be in the aligned continuety.

You're right, TFP is not in any way, shape or form, related to WFC/FOC.

    IT'S RELATED TO BEAST WARS.

But in all seriousness can't we just accept it and move on? Yes, Hasbro made the decision while high. Okay. We can live with this, it's not a universe-shattering thing.

This could of all happened before the WFC story video game started. in episode Zero.

Humans on Earth like a name and keep re-using it. In beastwars,Several characters re-used names.

Maybe Bulkhead used another smaller ship to intercept the Ark. while it was flying thru space towards earth.

In the Prime cartoon, viewers never see the Autobots land on earth. So perhaps Bulkhead arrived on earth later on before episode One started.

FOC doesn't take place directly after WFC ends. their is a gap period game players don't see. just connect the dots. put the un-explained stuff in the un-seen gaps period.

The shot in the chest was a second wound. the first throat wound took place in the gap period.

Could be another Transformer who got called Cliffjumper. the re-use of names happens all the time with earth humans. Beastwars characters re-used names.

Transformers are made on a assembly line. similar models get used for the production run.

Dark energon turns dead transformers into Zombies. Megatron got a new body built for him. Dark energon would have a different effect when put into non-dead bodies.

Megatron in Prime built up a tolerance towards dark energon. perhaps this dark energon tolerance began in WFC or FOC. megatron has something special the others don't.

In the Prime cartoon series. Starscream puts a dark energon shard thru his body. he didn't turn into a Zombie. The dark energon shard partially worked for starscream. Then the Shard stopped working for Starscream.

Perhaps a millennium passed in the Gap years. After WFC ended & before FOC started.

Prime,Soundwave still has his cassette minion. Prime,Sounwave can talk,he just choses not to. Transformers often gets new forms to adjust to their newer environment.

Knockout arrived episodes later in the Prime cartoon series. Megatron needed newer recruits,so knockout was called upon. from where ever he was in the universe.

WFC Breakdown could of got rebuilt into a bigger robot. Transformers get rebuilt all the time. Their constantly changing alt modes and size.

Could easily be explained as a super drone Hardshell created. with dowloaded Personality traits. Used in battle to trick the enemy into thinking he perished.

In FOC their are Three levels of drones for the Insecticons. perhaps the high level, has downloaded personality traits based off the real thing.

Same continuity family, not same direct continuity.

It's exactly the same as the G1 TV show and Marvel G1 comic both being G1, but not being in continuity with one another. They're both different versions of the same universe. Same goes for the Armada show and Armada comic. Energon show and Energon comic. WFC/FOC and Prime.

How many times does this have to be said?

This. When you shine white light through a prism, it splits into the various colours of the rainbow. Same thing here. Prime, Rescue Bots, Exodus, Exiles, War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, etc are all a part of the Aligned Continuity Family.

They're linked in that they all draw concepts and ideas from the same source. However everything doesn't fit together 100%; there will be differences.

However, the different splinters within this family are much, MUCH MUUUUCH closer together in terms of story than in other families, with the intent being that "if you squint" to ignore some conflicts, they'll all basically line up as one timeline.

Resasons 4-6 Are invalid. It is stated that Bumblebee lost his voice before they even left cybertron.

    This.
