Following an e-mail from Andy at Kapow that got my thought processes whirring, I've squeezed a little bit of time out of my workload in order to climb back aboard the 3D prototyping wagon and get this idea up and running.

He's designed to fit into WFC Soundwave's chest (but I've not uploaded the STLs yet to check whether it's actually viable printwise - I'll update when all that's sorted); that aside, I thought I'd throw these concept renders out there and see what everyone thinks. :thumb

(And yeah, I thought 'data storage module' sounded better than 'strangely-defined box-like lump with bits whacked out of it'. :p )

    Updates to come!

Your artwork is very crisp and clear, but I have to ask - why when he already has Laserbeak?

WFC Soundwave's toy doesn't have any minions - he will have by the time I'm finished. :thumb

That is really cool. Do you have any intention of going the whole hog and designing more? ;)

It looks really cool, but why not make it look like WFC Laserbeak?

Well, y'see, now that's the kicker - having tried to get as much visual resource for the in-game model as possible (and failed miserably), I scoured a thread or two here, where several posters pointed out that said model was near-identical to Laserbeak's pre-Earth guise from MTMTE. And having plenty of reference for that...hopefully, you see where I'm coming from. :)

Obviously, there's a massive incongruity with the Laserbeak that appears in the big honking battle images High Moon released, but those particular representations are about as clear as mud. If you've got anything a bit more defined, however, I'd be more than happy to take another crack at things!

If I may suggest something. If this does get released, it should be sold either a 2-pack or 4-pack. There would probably be better demand if say there was a pack that contained Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble, and Frenzy. Also, it might help the initial costs since their will be x-number of characters to sell to help with the cost of the molds.
But I'm just another fanboy and have no real knowledge of how things work. Just a guess from what I've learned from here. :p

    Thanks, all! :thumb

Been having a further scout for game shots, and from what I can ascertain, it looks like I'm on the right track with the body/head, but the wings are more like Earth-form Laserbeak's. Still haven't got anything clear, though - anyone seen any of High Moon's concept art for him?

Cheers, Venks - struck me that quite a few people made comment of it when WFC Soundwave first appeared, and after the e-mail inspiration from Andy, I thought 'why not?' If there's enough interest, I might even put a proposal to certain acquaintances of yours (if that's OK with you)!

And thedreaded1 - it's funny you should say that... ;)

EDIT: Mod question! Should this thread take the jump to Creative GD, rather than remain here in FA?

YouTube - Transformers: War for Cybertron Walkthrough - End Credits

Does this help? At about 20 seconds in the credits Laserbeak flies straight through the shot. Even with the filter over it you should be able to snap a couple of shots.

Funny enough, I was just checking the WFC wallpaper I have on my desktop, and in it is Laserbeak in his Earth mode...whoops!

Still, this toy looks good either way, even if it's not accurate. You could always make it Buzzsaw ;)

Jeff: Thanks, mate - always very much appreciated! :D

Digilaut - Cheers! That was exactly what I needed...although as you can see, the wing design is a little bit convoluted (and involves no small amount of cheating/polymerging on High Moon's part):

However, I've got a couple of ideas on how I can simplify (or failing that, kludge) things into a functional shape that'll work, although the whole thing's going to need a rebuild. No problem there, though. :thumb

However, I've got an additional thought in mind: if I'm going to redesign things specifically for WFC Soundwave (which of course is the main goal here), who'd be up for me redesigning this particular model to fit into G1 Soundwave?

*digs out G1 Laserbeak to get some measurements, just in case... ;) *

And thanks to everyone else too - the ongoing feedback and input is exactly what I need!
