A very good friend of mine, Joe Toscano, has let me know that his brother, and long time Transformers fan Vin, has been diagnosed with a very rare disease. Many of you know Joe as Prowl Pants of CustomMasters.com. The disease is called Stage IV Histiocytic Sarcoma and is best described as a very rare cross between a Lymphoma & Sarcoma that only about 20 people have ever been diagnosed with. Vin is about to undergo some very invasive and intense treatments.

I, and TFW2005, would like to send our well wishes to Vin, and would like him to know we are keeping him in our hearts and thoughts. Vin has setup a website through CaringBridge, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization offering free personalized Web sites to those wishing to stay in touch with family and friends during significant life events. You can see his website by Clicking Here.

Please feel free to send Vin your well wishes as well.

Aw shit. Good luck, Vin. I'll keep you in my thoughts. And the website is a brilliant idea.

Keep positive and god will respond. I know what having a rare problem is like. I am waiting for a heart transplant. So patience is the key to recovery. That and family by your side.

    Good luck!

I signed his guestbook even though he'd likely never know who I was. Here's what I wrote and WHY I wrote it. I hope it will encourage many of you to talk to Vin as well.

I want to add that while I was in the hospital, one of my friends who visited me told one of my nurses about it. She logged on and printed something like 20 pages or more worth of forum posts wishing me well and brought it to my bedside. I am home (or at Wal-Mart looking for new Transformers) now, but I still have those pages that were printed for me. Dude. I literally cried when I got those messages. I hope something like that could touch Vin that much as well.

And that's why I found it important to write him when he wouldn't know me from Powerglide ;)

Web forums can be an impersonal place where people bash others (here because they like or dislike the movie, or MPE Skywarp, etc.) but it can also be a wonderful place of fellowship. Please keep that in mind and send Vin your well wishes.

I too had never heard of him until I logged on to the site this morning. It doesn't matter. He'll love to hear from you!

So sad to hear fellow fans in such straits. Best wishes Vin!

Joe, do you know what's up with the studio? Does Vin work in radio? I'm a fellow radio guy and it looks just like a place I used to work at.

I'm going to do something crazy and non-pc and keep him in more than simply my "thoughts," "heart," or "wishes." What good is thought and desire without action? I'm keeping him in my prayers. I'll even go the extra mile and tell others to pray for him as well. I knew a girl with a really rare disease once, so I know how scary it can be.

Let me add that Caring Bridge is a fantastic site. My wife's cousin had a stroke last year, when she was only 36! My in-laws created a page there for her so we could all send her our best and keep up to speed on her recovery.
