Last week I noticed that my AC was out and Wed a guy came and looked at the unit. The new outside unit is fine, but the old blower (8 years) unit that sucks all the air up for my room has a valve that is clamped shut and since it is so old (units usually last about 10-12 years) suggested that we go ahead and get a new blower unit. So I got no AC. It is tolerable in the middle of the night, but any other time of the day it is hot. I got a big box fan blowing on me and it helps a little.

Well a guy was supposed to give an estimate yesterday, but when he found it was in the ceiling he couldn't due it to having surgery recently. So now I have to wait on another estimator to come out.

It was about 80*F in my room when I got home yesterday. With this heat I can't play 360, at least not for very long. I don't want it to over heat and get damaged.

I usually keep my computer on all the time so I have quick access, but with this heat I don't want to put it at risk, nor do I need any extra heat it would put out. I'll still be on, but maybe not quite as much.

Later today I got to go have Vista installed on my computer. I got it for Christmas and when I tried to install it it would install about halfway then reboot and not restart into windows and would ask for the code again then say I needed to be into windows. So I tried it about 5-6 times. I'm tired of dealing with it, so I'm just taking it to a local place and have them do it today.

It could be worse, all things considered.

It could be the middle of summer when the blower needed to be replaced. Or you could have asymptomatic gonorrhea. Or the guy who's going to work on your computer could steal all your porn.

In any case, best of luck!

Wow.. that does suck man, but like Lance said, atleast it didn't totally bail out on you in the summer when you would be totally sweltering.

    Good luck!

I feel ya man, I work in a shop with a metal roof, piss poor insulation and no HVAC services at all. We get fans for summer and space heaters for winter, it does most of the work but in the middle of summer its definitely a roaster.

I'm an optimist so I have to believe that the guy would simply copy all of the porn and not actually remove it from the computer.

Things could be worse. You could work in a butchers and catch your balls in the meat grinder.

80 degrees? That's nothing. I live in Phoenix and I keep my house at that temperature all summer long. During the day when I'm at work, it goes up to 86 and then when I arrive home it goes down to 80. It starts to cool at 4:45 PM and it reaches 80 around 8 PM probably. It's about the only way to stay economical.

Don't worry about damaging your XBox or any other peripherals, they can take the heat just fine. I run a server machine with four hard drives in it 24/7 and it chugs along just fine. I play Bioshock on XBox for hours at a time. All you need is good ventilation around the devices.

Just plunk down a hundred bucks on a small window unit to use as a back-up.

I'm just not built for the heat. You may be able to handle it just fine, but I need my temps in the 60s.
