Component cables will work for HD.

If you go the HDMI route, go the cheap HDMI route. There is no discernible difference.

You can find cheap HDMI for less than $5 if you look around.

I have only ever used HDMI since getting my TV. But it sure looks nice.

I have used both on the PS3. The HDMI was way better.

I've only used an HDMI cable on my PS3. No complaints at all. I use a cheapy too. I paid $12 when HDMI was hard to get cheap.

    Definately go HDMI!

Even if you just use your PS3 for gaming now, if you ever want to start a Blu-Ray movie collection later on, because of HDCP security, component cables will only let you watch your movies at a crippled 480p/DVD quality resolution instead of their full 1080p HD capability. ;)

& for good quality, affordable cables, you can't beat www.monoprice.com :thumb

I avoid HDMI like the plauge that it is. Compent will get you equal quality and you can use compent cables from a PS2 since there are totaly compatible.

If you plan on using the Blu-Ray player on the PS3, then you need HDMI, component is no good for it.

Congratulations! You made an excellent choice.

I agree with everyone else in that HDMI does make a difference. I used the Component Cables that I had from my PS2 to hook it up, and then hooked it up through HDMI...and I saw a difference. Try looking at text. Text is one easy example you can check out on your screen to see the difference.

There are cheaper HDMI cables out there, but if you need a cheap and fast HDMI cable...go to Walmart. They had some for $15...and they were really nice looking, and so far, so good.

If you don't mind the wait...the above link for monoprice is awesome...and probably cheapest.

Feel free to add some buddies, or hit us up on Metal Gear Online when you get around to it. My screen names for the PSNetwork, and MGO are Squall42080.

Plus, with HDMI, your video and audio are covered in only one wire. It really cuts down on the clutter behind your TV set up.
