Well my birthday was yesterday, and one after the other I watched my sister my stepfather and my mother get the stomach flu,....and guess who had it on my birthday?? Yup ME!!! It sucked.....but for many of you who dont know me my name is Brooks. And some do find it to be a strange name. With that being said, it was given as a birth name from my grandpa. Well last night I got a call from my father saying he died from a cancer-tumor on the top of his lung where the passage way is. Which is very weird because he never smoked once in his life. Anyways I just figured since its general discussion I wanted to see everyones veiws on birth given names and such.

I'm so totally confused? Is this a birthday thread? a name thread? or a condolences thread?

And I am sorry for the loss of your grandfather.

    Wow.

    Um.

Yeah, Happy Birthday, not a weird name, and I'm terribly sorry.

And I'm a third, named after my father and grandfather.

You totally need to change your name to Jux the 3rd now. That's awesome.

And I'm very sorry for your loss.

Jux the Third sounds more distinguished. hell, you could even throw in an "Esquire" if you wanted. Of course, if you did that, I would have to point and laugh.

Hey man, sorry about your loss. Losing a family member to cancer is a pretty horrid process.

Um...in order of your original post: happy birthday, I hope you and your family are feeling better after the flu, and I'm sorry to hear about your Grandfather. I lost my Granny to lung cancer last year.

In regard to birthnames, I decided at about the age of four that I didn't like mine and changed it. I even changed it legally before graduating from high school, though I did keep my given name as part of my full legal name. :)

Sorry for your loss. Happy B-day.

    The name thing.

We came up with my daughters name when we were at the bar. In order to keep a portion of my wife's family name Clarke, We named her Emme Clarke. We named our son Cooper James, I think we got it off a tire or something.

I plan on naming my children Gold, Silver and Bronze.

I will tell them that I love them all equally.
