I just got PG and OS and the boxes smell kind of like trees or sap. It's kind of a bitter smell. It's really irritating since new boxes usually smell nice and plastic-y. Anyone else notice this at all?

It's Hasbro's new "Green" policy. All of their toys are packaged in "all-natural" containers made of the finest natural ingredients, such as bark and sap. 100% environmentally friendly and recyclable: When you're done with them, they make excellent loofahs, compost, or you can boil them to make a nice herbal tea.

Also: Stop freebasing on your TF boxes.

If you'd throw out the boxes you wouldn't have noticed.

Is freebasing some form of huffing? If it is then label me an addict to new transformer and new video game smell. It's SOOOO nice.

It's called out gassing silicon circuit boards. Don't breathe it in, toxic as all hell.

I don't know if he's being serious, but I'd not make it a habit of sniffing the boxes anyway. (....odd.) I mean the chemicals used could be dangerous. They did prove that what makes the new car smell (which everyone loves) is extremely dangerous to your health. Those are some nasty chemicals used, and their inhalation is not recommended.

I'd not be surprised if these toys were the same way.

The dangerous odors and materials fade away in short time, but until then, it could be considered hazardous.

I wouldn't go so far as to say a toy could present the same problems a new car would, but it's just not normal to be sniffing a box anyway. Besides, who knows who's handled it before you bought it, and you just inhaled their fail.

    FAIL MAKES YOU SICK.

Well I don't make it a habit to deeply inhale the scent of boxes it's just that this was very overpowering as I was opening them.

I'd stick the box where air can flow over it and let the whiff outside.

Better to be safe than seeing weird things and hopping naked off a brige while claiming you're the Happy Donut of Christmas Town.

It is the smell of extremely awesome, never played with figures, telling you to get them out of their cardboard prison and throw it away.

    :)
