Weak plastic piece on Gen. Darkmount: a mild warning.

While making my Impactor custom i broke this (highlighted poorly in green) general area. Most likely due to the extra layer of purple paint, or because the only way to take that part off is to pull it off by force, so you have to force it back on.

I was able to fix it, but only because i noticed it was breaking while it was. Breaking i mean. *ahem*

So, for any of those who plan on kitbashing this figure, be aware that the plastic used for that piece will not take much abuse. Don't break Darkmount, be gentle!

Or maybe it broke because you were customizing it. Doesn't mean it's a weak part.

Only thing I'm slightly concerned about on Darkmount is the gray crotch piece. I've seen two Darkmounts and both have had stress marks at the pin joint of that piece. Both were MISB which makes me wonder if the knurled pin they used was slightly too big.

I've experienced firsthand via Macross how missized knurled pins can explode a joint like that.

That Darkmount, can't stay away from the ladies, and the ladies can't stay away from him. Takes a toll on his pelvis.

That's the thing with Decepticon warlords. When they oppress the locals, they do a thorough job.

Actually, I'm sure it broke because i was customizing it, but that was the whole point of the post, to inform potential customizers out there to be gentle with the piece when (dis)assembling the figure. :thumbs2:

Also Wollstone, lol at "darkmount" as a verb.

My darkmount doesnt seem to have the problems described. Although, the clip on weapons have stress marks in their connection area. I am thinking that those parts are a bit smaller than meant to leading to the described stressing at those points.
