I am doing a rewatch of G1 one again, and I am realising that a lot of the earlier episodes (I'm only on disc 2 of season 1) Megatron announces that the Decepticons will attack the dam/power plant/rocket base/etc at sunrise. I realise that this saying comes from older media (maybe even Westerns) where an attack would happen at sunrise so they could get some well earned sleep before the big attack/heist.

But it just seems silly now that these unsleeping robots always want to attack things in the morning. Then again, I'm not sure if I can really recall many things happening in Season 1 at night except for Fire in the Sky.

 

They like to keep things on a schedule they are familiar with.

Cybertron didn't have a sun of its own, therefore no sunrise. Megatron likes to gaze at the sunrise, the light glints off of the shredded armor of his Autobot foes so attractively.

 

I haven't noticed that Megatron usually attacks power stations at sunrise. You'd think he'd do it at night because Transformers are suppose be to covert. Then again, someone as arrogant as Megatron might think he's above hiding at night.

 

It provides motivation. You'd want to destroy something if you feel like sh*t, wouldn't you?

 

Cybertron has sunshine in "War Dawn".

 

Maybe that's why they always lose.

 

I think you were reading too into it. Maybe Ravage had just relayed the information and waiting until the next day would have given them time to prepare, etc. Either that or Megs was just tired

 

Maybe they want to hit the humans while they are still sleepy. Plus, the Decepticons can fly, but the Autobots might get tied up in rush hour traffic.

 

I'm thinking it has everything to do with a shift change. Probably best to take the plant in the confusion when everyone's punching in and punching out for the day.

The sunrise part may have more to do with having a whole day with sunlight to work in rather than just a few hours, not so much to get sleep.

 

Megatronj just loves the smell of plasma in the morning.

Also, decepticon union is strict abt Lunch breaks n punching out so calculative megs tries to make sure battles dont extend into overtime hours.

 

Megatron can attack a place any time he wants. If he choose "sunrise", then it shall be done!

 

What better way to shit on your day than to have a bunch of Decepticons roll up on you first thing in the morning!

 

If your enemy is a giant robot John Wayne, you MUST make your attacks at sunrise. It is a law of nature.

 

That's because it was before Cybertron broke from its orbit during the war.

 

He likes to attack right after breakfast, nobody enjoys going to battle on an empty stomach. It's a killer during the summer though.
