Yes, this fandom is and can be very divided... but that goes for virtually EVERY fandom out there. Don't get me wrong, it's annoying as hell, but it happens with Batman, Star Wars, Spider-Man, Star Trek, etc. every bit as much as it happens here thanks to so many simultaneous differing continuities going on in those franchises as well.
>_> Slightly? I think half serious... half kidding. In all honesty, that is the only part of the franchise where I tend to vere away from.
The only logical course of action we can take is to kill everybody who doesn't like and dislike the same series I like and dislike.
There is often times where sarcasm is lost in translation on the internet as well, especially when talking about the other folks favorites. There are the rabid one sided fans who do take any negative light shed on their favorite series as a personal attack tantamount to assaulting a family member. Same with sports, politics and whatever else a group of people will converse about, subject matter is really not even relevant in the end.
LOL. I'm guessing you weren't involved in the fandom around 1995, right? Ever heard of Trukk not munky - trust me, fandom has been more... "aggressively" divided before! There's more choice, and far more different groups of fans who like different things... but variety is the spice of life, and there's nothing wrong with that.
All the bitching, whining, complaining etc. is f#ck'n hilarious! First there was Geewun, then "Trukk not Munky", Pokeformers, Bayverse, Teen-Titan-formers etc. It just goes on & on & on...
That was Animated. Technically also Geewun came in around Bayverse, I remember lots of people holding onto Generation 1 memories before that but it only really became used as a derogatory back after the original movie came out.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to say. Transformers has no where near the cultural impact now as it did say 84-86.
I think it's cool that there are so many different stories and versions of this franchise. There is something for just about everyone, there is no one story, like it or not. And it brings alot of us together to form one fandom.
I wish the fanbase wasn't so divided as well....unfortunately, that's just how fanbases work. Right now, the only way you're going to get everybody to like the same things is to unite everyone in the entire fanbase into a single consiousness. And even then, the Transfan Gestalt is going to hate some things. Besides, not everything TF-related is perfect. Every series has its flaws, some more than others.
Well duh! It's been around for three decades of course people are not new to it as years before! People can't get excited over every new brand that the franchise has to offer!
Dude the franchise has been around for two decades now of course people aren't as excited. They can't get exicted over a new brand every time! It was a new concept back then that was why people were so exicted but nowadys it's nothing that new for us! You're saying that like it's a crime.
^^^ Yeah! Actually I have noticed a lot more negativity and unnecessary fighting than usual around here lately. Maybe it's just because of the holidays? lol
