WB got the rights to make a live action bleach movie! They are also making a death note film. Warner Brothers in Film Talks for Bleach Manga - Anime News Network
We can only hope that a Hollywood adaptation of an anime actually turns out nice and not a giant turd for once. But then again, I don't really care about either of these, so carry on...
^Gene Simmon's son and Plagiarizer of Kubo Tite's most popular manga "Bleach" Death Note is easily doable if they are willing to split the story into like 3 movies or just 2 if they skip N and M Bleach I don't think can be done as well even if they skip much of the urban fantasy elements and go straight to SS and shorten the hell out of it. Maybe one movie focused on the urban fantasy elements to try and make the audience really care about the main characters and their "bond". Foreshadow the breaking of this bond at the end while introducing knight of cerebus Byakuya. Ultimately though I'm unconvinced long running OTT Shonen action/adventure series can make the leap to live action satisfactorily. I'd rather see the WB tackle Naoki Urasawa's "Monster" probably take like 3-4 movies and a director like Peter Jackson to do justice.
Sono Tori Desu LOL I think it's funny that the WB chose bleach before the other more popular and consistently "good" mangas out of the SJ big 3 titles. Bleach sucked after the initial arrancar arc, HM was mostly hit or miss with me and the fake karakura fights were mostly meh until Spoiler Aizen started to move. A bleach movie with Aizen as Spoiler a villain protagonist would actually be better than following the manga the standard way infact it might be the only way to make a good bleach movie.
as long as the get Rukia and Ichigo right I don't care how sucky it is ^^ although I've only seen three episodes I enjoyed these two characters.
As much as I love Death Note, and I do, I see some major hurdles. IF they just remake the 3 Death Note/L films then I think people wouldn;t like it particularly because the first movie ends pretty abruptly and I can already ehar all the 'WTF????' calls that would throw up to the audiences expecting a complete story. You certainly can't tell the story properly in just one film. Second issue is that it's a story about a school kid murdering people. I can see the soccer moms up in arms over that one... I can only imagine a Bleach film endling up like Draginball: Evolution, hilariously bad, but probably still fun to watch...
They can easily avoid much of the negative press from the moral guardians by making Light a college student instead Exactly what I'm agraid of.
First thing they will do is make all the characters american and change all the names. Also after Dragon Ball, I don't have high hopes. They will rip the series apart and nothing I liked about it will be left.
Well just because someone buys the rights doesn't mean the films will get made (still hoping the Cowboy Bebop live action film falls through). I like both series but this seems like a bad idea (then again studios may just be trying to get anime licenses in case those kinds of films to become viable like comic films). Still Death Note I think lends itself better to a live action version (as they've already done in Japan). As long is the focus in between Light and L it could be alright. Bleach I don't see working as well. Tite Kubo himself has stated before that it's not meant to be reworked into a live action film (not that he has final say obviously). I like Bleach (am only up to the beginning of the HM part, both in the manga and anime) but there's just a lot to fit into a 2 hour(ish) film.
Focus on the earliest parts, and set it up with Grand Fisher as the main enemy of the film. That way they can also frame things around his early-mentioned desire to protect everyone and his feelings with regards to his mother's death. He becomes a shinigami, works alongside Rukia, fights Hollows, and the typical conflict-hits-home moment can be when he realizes just why his mother died.
