To do this properly, they need to make live action versions of Macross, South Cross, and MOSPEADA, all in different directorial styles, then edit them together into one semicoherent movie.

    :lolol

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. And KA's right. The only thing I liked at all about Robotech--or Macross, for that matter--were/are the toys. Which are AWESOME.

This could have some of the most impressive CGI robot / jet dogfights ever if they work with the military and incorporate actual tactics and stuff into the flight sequences. Really go all out with getting the military stuff down for eye candy, then all they need to do is pick the key elements of the story which shouldn't be too hard, it's your traditional "love and war" story.

If done right, this will be an amazing flick.

I agree with sol fury, it could be very good. Since it is simply a love story in space. With lots of mecha action sprinkled in.

I only hope they go more with the orginal macross story line than the robotech one.

But it could be good, just keep in mind what bay did for transformers. I will pay to see it and make my desicon than.

Beat me to it, that was the first thing I thought when I read the thread title.

On the bright side, its not like they can make anything remotely resembling Macross without inviting a legal shitstorm since the design and story elements arn't HGs to sell in the first place.

    Anyone else see this..........

    From Yahoo news:

TORONTO (Hollywood Reporter) - After slipping on a mask for Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire might be slipping into a giant robot for "Robotech."

    Opinions?? Thoughts???

Uhhhh....not sure about that. They need some Japanese kid to fill that role, and someone younger than 32.

maybe he plays Roy Fokker? and they don't necessarily need to cast a Japanese kid, after all, they're adapting Robotech, not Macross. As long as they do it right, I'll see this. I'm more worried about the Dragonball Z movie Fox is doing

Yeah they have a lot of material they can draw on and the characters/story can be far more easily conceptualized for a IRL experience than say DBZ... just trying to visualize how they will pull off the diverse and out there characters gives me a headache lol... and all the characters in robotech are westerners for the most part.. *sob* Khyron brought to life would be a dream for me lol.
