I just borrowed my friend's Watchmen paperback yesterday. I knew what the story was about, but I had never read it. So I opened it up this morning thinking that I'll just read a chapter and read the rest slowly. How wrong I was. I just could not put it down, so I ended up reading the whole thing in five hours. It was the best graphic novel I have ever read.

Now I really hope they get the movie version right.

It's the best graphic novel ever.

People can say I'm only calling it that on account of the movie coming out, but whatver. It's still true.

I just find it amazing that it was written in the 80s.

I don't know if Watchmen can be called the best graphic novel ever - that sort of honor goes to From Hell in my book. But it's definitely one of the greatest reads in that category.

It was an cool novel. Spoilers:Ozmandias modus operandi was rather interesting (he brags AFTER he wins), this not faling into the cliché "evil overlord". But I do hate ambigous endings.

General Magnus, you may want to hide your spoilers since the movie is bringing in a lot of people who have not read the book yet.

You didn't have to delete it, just hide it with silver text. I just think it would be a shame if someone got spoiled as you never see the ending coming. Not trying to tell anyone what to do or anything.

i picked up the book last week, and just finished it...the first 3 chapters were a slow burn, but midway through the book it really just picked up and pieces fell together into an epic story...i'm really quite satisfied with it, even the ending...i don't know if its the best ever, but it is definitely a great read...can't wait for the movie now...

I still haven't read all of it. I need to pick it up one of the next times I'm out.

As good as the book is to read, it is even better to re-read. And then re-read again. Once you know everything, you can go back and catch all the stuff you never caught the first time.

Like check out chapter... 5, I think? The book is laid out symmetrically. The last page mirrors the first, second the second to last, etc, until they meet in the middle (which, as I recall, are the pages where ***** is almost assassinated).
