Those actually look pretty good. Though I know pretty much nothing about Watchmen, and have no idea if these look like the characters they are supposed to look like. It may just be me, but some of them look like really bad Batman and Robin ripoffs. I'll probably see the movie, though if I get any of the figures, it'll be the one that, to me at least, looks like it's trying to look like Batman. Even then I'll probably repaint it as Batman, and also attempt to give it a real cape, instead of that worthless hunk of plastic hanging of it's back.

There has to be more to that Manhattan figure. It just looks like a blue sticker XD.
I might buy a Rorschach and a Comedian, unless some cheap-ish detailed statues come out at retail.

I've been thinking about it. I haven't been into comics for quite some time now, but it does sound good. I looked up the characters, and what little info I found were pretty much their names, lol. I figured the one was too close to a Batman look to not be inspired by him in some way. I'll probably go to Borders and see how much they have for it (got one almost right next to the school). I guess I could probably check the town's library, but I honestly don't think they'll have it.

Originally, Alan Moore planned on using the old Charlton Comic's character that DC aquired in 1983, but DC those him no. So really, all the character is based off of them.

Niteowl's inspiration is Blue Beetle whose inspiration is Batman I suppose. Dr. Manhattan's inspiration is Captain Atom and Rorschach's inspiration is The Question.

Saw wave 1 at the comic shop yesterday, and have to admit they look good. Might pick a few of them up eventually.

Okay, finally got home and opened him.

First things first: the box is labeled "Collector Action Figure." This is a blatant lie. By no means is this modern world can this pass for an action figure It is a semiposable statuette, with moving elbows and wrists and a turning neck post, that's it. So if you want more than that, sorry.

With that said, as a statuette, its not bad. I am glad I got it, as I love the character. Detailing and paint apps are all superb. The legs and body have a cold-cast feel to them. You can swap out a fist for a hand that you can put his grapple-hook gun into.

For fans of the book, they are nice little pieces. But action figures, they are not. I hope one day DC Direct will start taking ques from out Japanese neighbors on how to make real toys.
