So, as I was watching the cartoon movie today, I noticed that Galvatron was voiced by Leonard Nimoy, and had a rust cannon (when he shot Starscream) just like Sentinal.. anyone else notice this?

That wasn't cosmic rust. Starscream just..disintegrated for whatever reason.

Yes, everyone knows that Leonard Nimoy voiced Galvatron, but that wasn't a rust cannon. Just a more powerful Fusion Cannon.

What was it then? It reminded me a lot when Sentinal shot Ironhide.. I was just thinking that it was kind of a salute to the cartoon movie that Sentinal was voiced by Nimoy and had (what I would call) the same sort of weapon.

It was an upgraded form of Megatron's fusion cannon. It caused Starscream to disintegrate.

It was mostly a scene set in the film to leave no questions about not only how much more powerful Galvatron was, but the fact he wasn't around to play games.

Yea what everyone else is saying, Galvatron was a more amped up Megatron.
Plus I thought Nemoy did a pretty good job voicing Galvatron too.

The movie had a horrible habit of suddenly amping characters weapons to lethal levels to kill a character they wanted killed off, then reverting to the usual minor damage when shooting at the "cool" new characters. Suffice to say, Galvatron never shows that kind of power again.

That's an interesting parallel between Galvatron and Sentinel, but I don't think it was intentional.

Both of their toy bios lie about who they really are, and they both took over from Megatron as the bad guy.
