I have never seen it and would like to check it out.
The only set releases for RiD were done in the UK, and are Region 2. It is possible to order the sets from amazon.co.uk if you live in the US (this is what I did).
The sets are region 2 however, so you will either need something like AnyDVD for your PC, or a Region Free DVD player. It may be possible to convert your existing DVD player to Region Free easily and quickly. Try searching for "(Player Model Number) Region Free" and it's pretty likely you can find instructions.
This. There has never been a US set release of RID to my knowledge.
I got the first one of those box sets, but I never found the second one.
RID Cartoon is owned by Disney.
If any thing its like this Hasbro own the rights as they do with all transformer property's Disney if they have any link at all are leasing them Like how Sony had them when they re-released the Movie a few years ago.
any ways if you want the UK set released by Jetix they released a 6 disc box set in December Link
Robots In Disguise was released by Saban Entertainment, which is owned by Disney.
Hasbro has not always owned the rights to distribute all of the shows.
For years the rights to distribute G1 and Beast Wars on video and/or DVD in the U.S. were owned by Rino.
And that is part of the issue here.
Sabban is the company that facilitated the Dubbing and the network distribution of RID in the U.S.
When Sabban was bought up by Disney or Sony [cant remember which right now] the distribution rights transferred to them.
It was Disney. They've still got the rights to RiD, like all those other good Saban shows (X-Men, Spider-Man, Digimon...). Although they ARE finally bringing out some of the X-Men cartoon on DVD soon, so there's hope for RiD (although I remain astonished that they didn't try to cash in on the live-action movie with an RiD set).
Rhino is now owned by Hasbro. That is why the G1 DVD is in the Optimus Prime 25th Anv. toy. You can look at the RID series for free on line, when i find the link again I can post that.
No, Rhino lost the lisence to G1, BW and BM a while back. Sony then got a hold it, but they only released the movie before they lost it. The master rights to G1 were held by TV Loonland (they didn't hold BW/BM, I'm not sure who did), who lisenced them out to Rhino, Sony and others (Metrodome for the UK, Madman for Australia), but last year, Hasbro bought the rights themselves, and now own the shows directly.
The release of the first few seasons of X-Men on dvd seems timed to coincide with the release of the Wolverine movie. So maybe they'll release RID when Revenge of the Fallen comes out a few months later.
Here's hoping! I'd love to have RiD on DVD! I've seen RiD online, (yay for youtube!) but I want my own copy to watch whenever I want.
I have the Car Robots DVDs, but not as a set. No english audio tracks or subtitles, though.
I have a dvd copies of the RID series, but I have no idea where it originally came from. It is dubbed in English and the quality is good. If I'm not mistaken it even has the fox tv logo ( i think fox ) in the bottom right corner.
Well, if it's a got a flippin' TV channel logo in the corner, that's a sign that it's about as far from official as you can get!
Yeah... but it's nice and clear, so it's good enough.
