Was the blocky TF in the trailer intentional?

Did Bay do this on purpose to mislead us? or did they suddenly change design after the trailer was released? Hardly, those alienonic designs were planned from the beginning, so what gives? Why put a blocky TF in the trailer? Why lead the hardcore fans on? It's cruel in my opinion.

Um it's not blocky that's the Bumblebee prop, or some version of it. It was used because it was available.

The trailer was made BEFORE Bay and co had even started filming.

It looked like that because they chose it too, and made it vague enough that what final version didn't look too out of place

That’s sort of what I was thinking. An early model they had up and running.

Hmm...I dunno. Movie Bumblebee still has antennae/horn things, and this doesn't. And seeing the reflection of light off this thing's 'skin', it looks more gray than yellow to me. There's also the question of why Bumblebee would smash an Earth-built rover, or how he even got to Mars.

If it is a Bumblebee prop, looks to me like it must be an re-painted or 'unfinished' one. I think maybe they used one that was the closest to the character it's supposed to be at that point, and that it's probably a Decepticon at that (Megatron or Starscream?...they can both fly, apparently).

No, they filmed the rover out at White Sands with the rest of the "Middle East" shots.

The Bumblebee prop? Why would a Autobot destroy something or were you saying it was used to repersent something bad??

I think the point was that they used an early model because it was on hand and that it’s not necessarily meant to be Bumblebee himself in the trailer.

i don't think the one in the teaser looks blocky at all, it's only a silhouette(sp?) you really cant tell what it looks like

Yeah the one in the Trailer looks the most Terminator-like out of all of them. In fact I remember people freaking out over that, not calling it blocky.

The arm in that shot looks blocky, but with kibble. Definately not the same design we later saw on Prime and co...

If I remember the leaked script correctly, the Decepticon that destroyed the mars rover was Vortex/Blackout (the helicopter). So, there we go.

I heard that the teaser trailer we saw, actually has little to do with the storyline of Bay's movie. Honestly though, it looked to me like a CG version of what a G1 character would have looked like, and it looked like it would be perfectly fine in a live action movie.
