    Could be an animation error.
A bunch of decepticons were "autobots" in G1 that way.

I think it was more like a "Hey Animation dudes, remember to draw his symbol as a black faction symbol", and the animators used the Autobot shape.

Exactly. The test shots had one on his chest.

And the g1 rub signs irregardless of faction, had the same outline.

The animators decided to put it in there to keep Lockdown's allegiance a mystery. Like Pauly T said, he's only really loyal to himself (he's got the Decepticon red eyes thing going, though, which is quite telling. Red eyes in this show is a Decepticon trait)

I would to know his origin and I hope they will explain it one day. But if
Lockdown is a bounty hunter, then why does he wear the Decepticon
logo? He is suppose to work for whoever pays him the most.

He DOESN'T wear the decepticon logo- only the toy does. Though to be honest, I doubt the autobots, at least, upstanding autobots, would not hire him, meaning most if his customers would be decepticons.

His methods are pretty dirty - though I would imagine while his client base are mainly Decepticons, there must be a few less than heroic Autobots out there who would hire him to get the job done. He goes whereever there is the work and someone who pays well.

he got it from an autobot then covered it in black paint

    <.<

while on a hunt for the decepticons

    that sounds plausible doesnt it?

Didn't he say the Dcons paid more and didn't care about him taking trophies for himself?

Although in A Fistful of Energon, he does mention that the Decepticons "pay way better than the Elite Guard", meaning he must have done work for them at least once...
