Holy cow is it my imagination or does this guy actually mass shift? Obviously its in my head, but i really feel like he goes from a tiny ambulance to a giant robot, which totally blows my mind, especially when compared to his Cybertronian form, whose alt mode is pretty big compared to his earth mode.

Anyone else feel the same about this guy?

If you think Ratchet mass shifts you should fiddle with Lockdown. The dude is a deluxe and ends up bigger than Voyagers.

    P.S. I love animated.

Rodimus goes from the smallest of Hot Rod alt modes to tallest of them all in bot mode doesn't he?

Aniamted has done this a lot with me. Tiny vehicle becoming big robots, or vice-versa.

    He does.

    It's nutty.

There's such disparity in the alt. mode and robot sizes for Lockdown and Rodimus because their transformations essentially have them folding fully in half.

But Jazz's a lot more complex. Animated figures typically pull off the size-change thing with fewer steps.

also just realized Animated Ironhide is more of a retool than just the head-theres a different piece in the legs, allowing him to avoid the floppy legs lol

the original ratchet is easily one of my favorite figure from the entire line. Partly because of the character he represents, but its definitely a great figure.

I JUST got Animated Ratchet. I only had the Cyb mode, and I thought I was satisfied with that, but the earth mold is so beautiful

I still think Animated toys had the best engineering of all TFs so far. Almost every single release had something incredibly clever going on, many of which seemed like downright magic. God I love that line.

Universe Silverbolt/Darkwing/Skyfall is essentially just them folding fully in half but transforming them seems as if they've stolen twice your money.

I agree with both sentiments here. Animated Lockdown has one of the best transformations I've ever seen: literally 70% of his car mode seems to become his legs, yet the entire robot mode seems evenly balanced. And he's as tall, if not a bit taller, than my Leader Class Bulkhead. Such a fantastic toy, I have two versions of him ^.^

I loved Animated for its toys. Most of them have unique, interesting transformations you just don't see in other lines.

I love the homage paid to G1 in the robot modes. Megatron, although a helicopter, drew a lot from G1 Megs. Wreck-Gar did the same.

Even today I feel that Megatron is one of the best Megs we've ever had. He really has it all.
