During that little walk up the stairs in the Stellar Gallery during Cliffjumper's mission? I mean, the visuals and music were amazing there.

One of my favourite parts of the game.

"Is it pointing to something big and ugly named Grimlock?"

Truthfully? Not really. Scenes like that have been done again and again in sci-fi, and for me at least it fails to impress now. It's just another one of those sci-fi tropes.

What really impressed me was the lead up to Metroplex. When you realize that you're actually inside that gargantuan transformer, and that the bright light was his spark chamber...I was awed then. I was also awed with Bruticus. God, I love Bruticus.

If we let ourselves stop seeing the beauty in what we've seen before, what is the point of trying to find new beauty?

I thought both parts were equally awesome. It was a really great campaign mode and didn't let up. High Moon gets full marks from me.

Somewhat unrelated, but I loved when after Megatron gets destroyed and Soundwave seems hesitant to leave him. He almost seemed sad, despite having no real face.

Because it's media, and media should be put to the test. There's nothing wrong with the scene, but in no way Fall of Cybertron's Stellar Map scene was compelling or "beautiful."

I'm ragging on the scene because it didn't do anything new or tried to make it compelling. If it were up to me...I would've had it had where Cliffjumper climbs up to the top, and when he gets there he sees this color hologram of prehistoric Earth and read outs in ancient Cybertronian regarding the primitive life forms that are observed. That would've made it more beautiful and compelling. Ancient Cybertronians discovered Earth just as life was starting to crawl out of the primordial soup. It would be a great way to tie the Earth to the canon of Transformers...perhaps the ancients had a passing interest in Earth and would've observed it further as it evolved.

But as it stands...there was no beauty in the scene because it was so textbook. A holographic stellar cartographic map showing places of interest. Woo-hoo. It's just been done so many times, and FoC did nothing new or even interesting with it. Therefore, it lacks any sense of beauty and awe.

Dude, I'm just gonna say I agree with you, not because I read your argument, but because you're the first person other than me that I've ever heard use the word "ragging".

To each their own but I too was amazed at that scene. In the midst of a war you come across something that visually stunning and its really quite something. I'm a big nature buff so I appreciate the landscapes HMS even bothered to put out for us when most of the time you actually seem to zoom right by it all
