Was anyone else curious to see how the Solar Harvester worked?

We don't really get an idea if it's a slow(ish) draining thing like the Solar Needle in G1, or if it's an instant KABOOM(ey) thing. I was curious for it to be turned on, start it's thing for a bit then get stopped. But Optimus went kablooey to it while it appeared to be only heating up.

    Thoughts, comments?

Hmm, never really have it a thought. I think it was supposed to send some beam of energy to the Sun, siphoning its power until it blew up.....or went dark. Went dark most likely, otherwise the robots would have been fried too.

I pictured it having an effect similar to the opening (title sequence) of Men in Black II, when Serleena's ship is blowing up planets as she passed them. Well, one of them at least...

It is sort of bad they could not have showed some sort of flashback where the Transformers had used it in the past. I've also wondered just how it works without causing the destruction of the Transformers who are there to collect the energy or just how it would store that much energy for the trip back to Cybertron.

In my opinion, it works like this: Once the Matrix is inserted, gears and cogs spin in it, until a beam that goes all the way up to the sun's center is created. Then, the beam absorbs the sun, then goes back into the Harvester, with the energy all collected. Then, the Allspark is connected to it and it drains the sun's power, recharging.

Maybe it work like that one G1 episode? Causes the sun to go supernova while draining its energy into energon cubes?

Causes multiple fusion explosions within the sun, creating millions of mini-supernovas before finally going nova itsself. The harvester collects the raw multi-demensional energy created during fusion (look into quantuum physics/multiverse theory) and converts the unstable energy into energon.

    There. You are welcome. :)

I think that it charges up, fire's the beam to the sun and harvests the energy to create Hatchelings for Megatrons army to kill the Autobots.

No. I can live without knowing how it would work.

maybe it opened a space brigde and would transport and convert the sun into energon on earth.

It does make you scratch your head when you start think about how the Primes were supposed to extract solar energy without great difficulty from being on a dying, freezing, sunless planet.

But i guess the Primes were just very sturdily built and could survive many types of disastrous planetary conditions. Plus, their teleportation abilities probably came in handy for quick getaways once they had extracted a sun's energy.

I have a personal theory that all the solar energy extracted by a harvester was somehow stored into the Matrix (hence why it was such a powerful source of energy alongside the Allspark). Then the energy in the Matrix could be transferred into the Allspark back on Cybertron.

Here's how I pictured it working:

Once the Key is inserted, the many gears and cogs inside the Harvester begin to spin and whirl. Slowly, the main towerof the Harvester begins spinning, each level of the rod spinning at different intervals.

As the Harvester begins to spin, black clouds are created, and roll in from every direction on the Harvester, causing the sky to go dark as night. The wind picks up, and is sucked towards the Harvester.

The Harvester begins to spin faster and faster, and as it does, a bright orange/yellow light glows from inside it. When the Harvester fires, the light fires upwards out of the main tower into the sky, splitting the black clouds.

The beam of rockets into the sky (it is still connected to the Harvester). When it hits the Sun, the Sun explodes in a massive supernova. The beam of light begins sucking the energy created from the supernova down into the Harvester (it looks like whips and pulses of solar energy being drained into the Harvester. The beam of light, upon draining all the supernova energy, is sucked back into the Harvester, which, at this point, stops spinning.

To me I think it would have been similar to how a black hole accretes a star.

Alwasy thought it was linked to the energon Megatron was looking for, which grew over time from absorbing the sun, or something

I loved ROTF's varety, mistakes and all, good ground to spawn a crapload of side storied comics from to further explain (or justify) all the confusing scenes

I think that we should have had a longer fight between Prime and Fallen and it could have been charging while they fight. It gets to full firing capacity and Prime hastens his face taking to go stop it and it seems that there is not enough time. Of course he does stop it and the world is saved :)
