Warner Premiere, Distributor Of Direct-To-Video DC Adaptations To Close
That sucks. They were really starting to get good and they were starting to adapt actual comic storylines into the movies. These animated movies allowed them to do so much. It's unfortunate because I wanted to see them do a Flash movie and an adaptation of No Man's Land and/or The Long Halloween.
I'm Sure they are going to continue the run. We dont know yet about the future.
I was hoping for a Killing Joke movie...
Same here, Mark would of return to voice Joker if that would of been made.
Deadline's coverage of the same news from this afternoon said that:
"Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video will continue to produce and release animated films, such as Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry and DC Universe."
Dc animated appears to be safe, it's the other Direct to video crap like Free Willy 5 or Air Bud 6, or crap like that. Dc actually sells, they will more than likely move them to another division and carry on as if nothing happened.
Goddamned halfassed CBM reporting, leaving out a crucial aspect of the story & prompting my misinformed reaction!
Anyway, as a (now) side note, I hope DC Animation projects will return with character designs that aren't Bruce Timm-based. I know lots of people love that look, but I honestly grew tired of it when they used it for Superman: The Animated Series.
They Are. WB Home Video & Animation will assume their Duites.
Damb CBM I thought I told them to not scare the Direct to DVD viewing audience with incomplete information... Don't they remember what happened the last time they fed us 1/2 the story ... We had people suffering panic attacks upon hearing news that WB let Joel Schumaker direct an animated film.
As long as DC animated are safe, then I am fine. Ditch the crappy sequel train movies.
I'm sure we'll continue to get the DC animated movies -- it's the one thing that DC(WB) always does better than Marvel.
Uh, when has this look been used in the direct-to-video releases? We haven't seen the Timm-style since JLU ended, as far as I'm aware.
As long as the animation department is safe, they should have done this a long time ago. Did anyone ask for several direct to DVD Free Willy sequels? The worst of which has to be that Christmas Story sequel that they're still going to release. That is one movie that should never have sequels or remakes.
Brainiac attacks and Superman Doomsday.
Ok, that was barely released a month after JLU ended.
Yeah, I guess that one counts, but again, that was '07. It's not like we've seen the Timm Style in any of the releases over the last few years.
Brainiac Attacks was part of Superman TAS so technically it doesn't count but as for Superman Doomsday it was the first movie they made so I guess they were used to doing things using Timm's style (which I like anyway).
Everyone, Calm the heck down.
“DC Universe Animated Original Movie” Titles Secure Despite Warner Premiere Closure
As long as DC can still do their thing. Who cares.
