Hmm, since they're making two movies it could work, seeing as since the anime was only like the first half of the manga anyway. Hey, I'm all for it if it turns out to be good, because if it's not I can just watch the anime or manga, there's no arm in attempting to make new movies.

Meh, they should've made them animated features.

I for one think there can never be enough evidence against the most irritating misconception that all cartoons are for kids.

Also, "New Manhattan"!? Yeah, I'm sticking with the original movie too.

Nothing good can come of this.

Except maybe some sweet bike replicas, but knowing today's movie industry, Kaneda's awesome custom bike will be replaced with a "vintage" 2009 Harley or something.

I don't remember anything wrong with the first movie, except it was too short.

And a live action movie, based in manhattan? wtf?

This is a longshot, but I'm going to take a wild guess that not only does tetsuo end up on a "Vintage" '09 harley or something equally lame, but somehow terrorists and/or 9/11 will be referenced over and over.

Way to screw something up WB.

I didn't mean short in terms of running time for one movie, but there was a lot missing in terms of overall story.

Considering the original anime is a REALLY chopped up version of the manga, this almost seems to be MORE faithful to the original material than that was, given that they are directly adapting the GNs (3 books = one movie), even if they are localizing the content.

Unless they chop the first 3 books into a 90 minute movie and spend 10-15 minutes of it on advertising, along with a bunch of cg sequences.

No kidding, if your going to make an anime/manga into a live action Hollywood film at least do something good, or plow more money into live action Macross.

Actually, there was some discussion floating around that there was a robotech(yes, I know it's not the same as macross) live action movie in talks.
