    I'm not surprised by this. Given that Mattel's been cranking out die-casts of the '66 Batmobile and Batboat and Batcycle as part of Hot Wheels, I figured they must have been making some headway on the licensing of the old TV show.

    The DVD would be a little trickier, though - IIRC there's legal issues regarding guest stars and royalties, particularly from all those Batclimb cameos (some of which are done in-character from other series - Werner Klemperer as Col. Klink and Ted Cassidy as Lurch, for example), not to mention the two episodes that guest-starred the Green Hornet and Kato. I think this is one of the reasons by Fox has always been able to release the Movie on video and DVD.
