First off, I'm toying around with my new camera now, so there should be more pics as soon as I can get it to take pictures in smaller sizes and feel more comfortable with the features of the camera. I'm still a little shaky too, but I'll fix that by finding stuff to prop up the camera on. Now, on to the good part. I built this a couple months ago, but due to my old camera being broken, I've had no real way to get pics. I also noticed that I forgot to put the tank treads on the back parts, but you can't notice it from the teaser pic below. I also forgot to paint the hands. Hopefully I'll have time to fix that stuff by the time I post more pics. My War Within Shockwave is fully transformable. He's 7.5" from the ground to the top of the head and 9.5" from the ground to the top of the backpack. I'll post more information with the next set of pics. On a side note, I see people saying they wish they could buy some the customs they see and I'm thinking of making a few more to sell if people are interested, but I'll ask that if anyone is interested, wait to see what information I post with the next set of pics and please contact me in private if you're still interested. I don't want to mix too much business with the pictures here, I'm really just letting people know what I plan to do and I'm posting this information here because I don't know where information like this should really go. Again, this is just a teaser pic until I can use my digital camera better. It is 700kb. Like I said, I'm trying to get my camera to take smaller pics but I haven't figured out how yet.
its not your camera that takes smaller pictures... you WANT the camera to take large ones! This way, you put the pictures in a program (the camera should've come with one) and shrink them down to a usable size, and the resolution will make everything crisp and clear. That being said, that's pretty hawt. Is he 100% Styrene? Can't wait to see him finished and in his alternate mode.
Looking nice there. Looking forward to updates. As for image size. I see you are using imageshack. I don't have experience with them but I use photobucket and they automaticaly resize large images. You might check them out if you don't have a program that you can use to do the resizing yourself.
I just used the image provider that the forum told me to use when I uplaoded the pic. I could have screwed it up. Also, my camera takes several sizes of pics in terms of file sizes. I know I wasn't clear on that, my bad. I'd like to have some dial-up friendly pics. I can always alter the actual size of the image with various image editing software if people like smaller pics, but thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to add all the images to my yahoo group, so smaller scale versions of the pics will be on the group as Yahoo shrinks images to some degree. I might try taking high quality pics and reducing the image's scale to see how much that affects the file size. I might even see how big the photobucket version would be. To answer REDLINE's question really fast, he is 100% styrene sheets and a few rods covered with stickers with the exception of the balljoints, which were stolen from Bionicles. His hands are also molded from Magicsculp. He's pretty sturdy too. Here's a pic of the vehicle mode taken with a different setting on the camera.
That's neat looking. If I ever get around to making one, TWW Shockwave would be my next scrathbuild (or Ironhide).
That's all kinds of awesome, but I would have used paint instead of stickers. When I first saw it, I thought it was a paper model, with all those white edges and super-clean printed lines.
This thing rocks! Although I was always under the impression that Shockwave's alt mode was the same as in G1...
I thought WW Shockwave remain exactly til' the G1 days, at least according to the DW comics. But that's a great concept. Keep updating.
Don drew up an alternate War Within design for Shockwave before deciding to use the original Shockwave design in the comics. This is based on the other design. Which can be seen here at Transtopia: War Within Designs That said... Awesome job proto!
actually it looks like its made of styrene with printed paper glued onto it as a "paint" in a way, very cool and original idea! awesome job man
Sorry it took so long, but I'm still figuring out how to use the camera. The pictures below show the transformation process more or less. Now for the information on the custom. He is 90% styrene sheets / rods and 10% lego bionicle joints. I used both a thick plastic for the main body and thin plastic for key areas that needed to be flexible such as the tabs that hold the arm cannon ends on the forearm in robot mode. I used ball-joints for all the joints minus the feet and head. The feet and head are on rods that pivot semi-loosely. The body is covered with stickers, which is how I cut out the pieces as accurately as I did. I have considered painting the body black where the pieces meet, but I also kind of like the way the white looks on it. I still haven't made the treads for the back or painted the hands, but those are minor things that can be easily fixed. It has ball-jointed knees, hips, shoulders, and elbows. Other rotating parts are made using rods and tight holes. I can also change the color scheme of him for future builds if anyone wants it in a different color. Last but not least, it takes me over 30 hours to build one, which doesn't include the huge amount of time I spent drawing it on the computer and testing out things to make sure it would all fit together. If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me either via this thread, a pm using this forum, a message on my yahoo group forum, or at my e-mail address protostar8customs@yahoo.com http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CustomTransformers/ I would like anyone interested in purchasing one to contact me using one of the above messages with the exception of posting a message in this thread. I want to keep the business side off the forum and in private at least for now. Thanks for all the nice comments and enjoy the new pics.
