a wiki for your consideration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Raiders

Although initially all I had on DVD was the first season, the internet was kind enough to furnish me with the second season: what a show.

Just a few episodes across both seasons that I found to be excellent:

    J'Accuse

    Blood is Thicker...

    Uneasy Hangs the Head

This is the way the World Ends...

    Girls Night Out

    Death of a King

From the very beginning, Shadow Raiders showed itself as an exception Sci-Fi show with good characters, solid plot, brilliant action and animation that for its time I feel is rather good.

Although my favourite characters were Prince Pyrus and Princess Zera, the best characters were probably Graveheart, Emperor Femur, Jade and Princess Tekla.

If anyone else remembers this show or has seen it recently, share your thoughts here.

Saw a few episodes a while back (I think YTV still airs it) and the stories were rather well done (you know, more mature for the audience it was targeted at).

Shame we don't get that type of plots in todays animation.

Pretty much anything Mainframe touched at the time was gold. It's a real shame what happened after that.

Yes, I must concur with that one. It was rare enough for almost all of my Sci-Fi loving family to sit and watch a single show, unanimous in our appraisal of it. The very fact it was a 'cartoon' was nothing short of incredible.

By the way, did you really have a picture of "Stalin riding a Year3 limited-edition Starflower inside a German concentration camp" in your sig?

I used to watch War Planets/Shadow Raiders back when it first aired. Too bad the show ended after 26 eps. due to the fact that the toyline tanked (from what I remember).

But yeah, War Planets/Shadow Raiders was a absolute gem.

It was a cool series indeed. Too bad it only lasted as long as it did. If I remember correctly, the toy makers almost screwed it up for Mainframe. Something about how they didn't want any people or characters in the show, just the Planets fighting. It was a good thing Mainframe talked some sense into them. The toys were ok, but kind of lame given the theme of them.

I never saw any of the toys, although when I first saw the Beast Planet, my first reactions was to say "Hey, a standin for Unicron" but I never did find the blasted thing.
