War For Cybertron - TFW2005 Hands On - Transformers News
Feel free to ask questions guys, I kept the actual review short and sweet. But if you have specific questions I will try and answer.
Super Awesome Work, Sir !!!
That "Capture-The-Flag" style game must be the "King-Of-The-Hill". That was one of the most awesome multiplayer modes I enjoyed when I played Unreal Tournament.
Did you get to play "Countdown To Extinction" too?
Awesome news! Thank you very much. Any word on pre-order exclusives? Collector's edition? OST?
Fantastic report. Great to finally hear about Escalation. I do have a few questions, if you don't mind.
Is there any form of statistics screen/leaderboards (for any of the three modes), for things like kills, deaths, score, time played, etc.?
Is there Matchmaking (searching online for teammates to play with) for Escalation?
Are there any kind of unlockables?
Nice write up. Will there be any local split-screen option for co-op?
Escalation sounds fuuuuuun!
Thanks for the scoop, Tony!
You mentioned this interesting tidbit: 'Going through the campaigns using each of the different characters'
Does this refer to switching through the default 3 per level, or can you choose from a larger roster before you start the level?
One more, is there a lobby system for the campaign, or does one person have to start, pause, invite friends and then go once then join?
EDIT: Also, is that 4 player co-op I see for Escalation?
For what you saw/played through, did you enjoy the story? Was it 'Transformers'-ish or just some throw-away sort of thing?
I never play on-line, so the enjoyment of the campaign is most important to me.
Great write-up Tony. Despite hating (and Warpath aside, i do mean hating) on the character designs, i'm still very excited to play this if the gameplay is as good as it sounds.
Is there local Co-Op? (i've yet to play an online game)
what version were you playing and did you get to see if there is a discernible difference graphically/framerate wise between the PS3 and 360 version.
Are there different skins within the multiplayer classes? So if I'm a leader I'm not always looking like Ironhide or if I'm a scout I don't look like Jazz? I'd assume so, but we've never really seen enough of multiplayer to know how this works along with how the campaign characters fit in like Optimus and Megatron. So I guess that is another question, how do you select someone like Optimus in multiplayer? Is he there or do you just color a generic character to have his colors?
Why did they decide to make this not local/split screen co-op.
Limitations in hardware and they put resources elsewhere. Disappointing though.
Question: In Multiplayer does your character shout lines at one another? The one trailer made it seem like they were yakking their heads off. XD
Also, I realize you played very little of the game, but did you see any outlying balance issues. For example, how the fliers worked in comparison to the ground teams? Killstreak issues? Too Powerful perks or weapons?
I would also like to know if there will be a Collector's edition. This is one game I'll definitely splurge on when it comes to that. Thanks for taking the time for the write up.
I thought it was said in one of the many video interviews that characters/chassis would unlock via satisfying certain requirements. I thought what we’ve been shown was the default setting and its characters, sort of like Uncharted 2. Completing the game, leveling up etc. gave way to other characters/skins.
Is Escalation Mode 3-player co-op or 4? This picture suggests 4:
Is that Jazz, Optimus, Iron Hide and Ratchet?
For those of us getting exclusive characters, can we use the same character (eg Jazz, Jazz, Jazz, Jazz) or can only one character be used at a time? Can a Decepticon play with an Autobot in this mode or do you have to team up with members of the same faction?
I had wondered if that was going to be an issue. Good to hear that players will have an option to change it. Heres hoping it's just not the case of the option to switch to another preset controll fig that fixes the first problem but then creates a new one by changing something else, like swapping movement and aim.
But then it's more then likely I'll probably be playing the PC version anyway, so I probably wont have this problem. I'm guessing transformation will be set to something like Mouse 3.
What platforms were you guys playing on...I'm curious to know how the PC version ranked to a console...I'm sure there will be differences...??
Isn't L3 the PS3's stick?
Can someone buy me a 360?
...and the game?
