    296bhp 3.6-litre V6
    416bhp 6.2-litre V8
    cylinder deactivation
    6-speed manual and auto transmissions
    weight distribution 52/48
    full independent suspension
    ~3750lbs
    ~$25,000 - $45,000?

Astonishingly, the production version remains incredibly faithful to the concept.

I already have a complaint. If it's an RS, it should have hideaway headlights like the pics of the Z28 Bumblebee. Just a gripe from a Camaro guy.

EDIT: Check that. After looking at the Z28 pictures closer, it doesn't have hideaways either. Oh well. I know Chevy had talked about it. I guess they decided against it.

Its funny the horsepower ratings nowadays, 296 for a v6! soon we'll have 300 hp 4-cylinders!

No kidding. I used to have a 3.0L V6 in my old minivan and that barely gave me 150 horses.

regarding the pricing, I think you are starting a little high. I have been following the life cycle of this car since before it was first introduced at the NAIS in Detroit. One thing they have always said is that this car will be comparable in price to the Mustang. While I don't think a 300 bhp v6 will start out under $20k I do think it will probably start out around $21k.

Also, there is talk that the 4 cylinder turbo charged ecotech engine that they use in the soltice may eventually get used here. That thing surprisingly pumps out 260 bhp.

One thing that I really like about this 300bhp 6-cylinder is that it runs on regular unleaded gas whereas the V8's will run on premium.

Dodge put out a 4-Cylinder (The SRT-4) that had an output of 230 hp in 03-05.

Interestingly we're probably getting right-hand drive versions of the Camaro over here in the UK too, iirc it may just be the V8, and sold as a Camaro rather than a Chevrolet (Corvettes are sold from Cadillac dealers here already).
I'll take mine in dark blue with a manual please :)

As for powerful I4 engines, don't forget that Mitsubishi used to put out a 400bhp version of the Lancer Evo, and the new X has 280, 320 and 360bhp I4 engines in the lineup.

Well, given that cars like this will be impossible to build after 2015(CAFE), I can see a lot of people grabbing the V8 version before it's too late. It will be a pain, but I'm sure there's a lot of Camaro fans out there who know that getting a V6 just isn't the right thing to do.

Model year's often ahead of the actual year. I don't know why. But yes, you can buy this from 2009.

Well, the Pontiac G8 (which is similarly engineered) goes for $27,000 for the V6 model, and while the V6 Mustang is cheaper, it only makes 210hp... Maybe it'll be cheaper, but I won't be surprised if it isn't.

Not necessarily. The V8s available for the new Camaro are supposed to be fairly fuel efficient, and will run on fewer cylinders, when all the power isn't needed.

I know Ford was also working on a system of electronically controlling the valves in an engine. If they can make it work, it would theoretically sip fuel, and have a torque curve like an electric motor.

I would rather have the V8, but gas prices would've had me pass. No way I would get a V6 in a sports car... That was until I saw that they are making them with 296 horses. That's alot from a V6. My 95 Z28 only had 285, and it was a V8... I should have my Cobalt paid off by then. Let's see how the world economy is by then.

my only gripes about the new camaro is the ugly tail lights...and the fact that it doesnt look so nice in white.

but other than that, its a beauty.
