So just for fun, I thought I'd sketch this:

What I did after I sketched it is that I heavily distressed it with ink, water, hand sanitizer, and wet wipes. I'll be posting the results of that later on, as well as a Photoshop composite. For now, enjoy the above image :)

    Update time:

I took about 18 different layers and played around with them, and then added some faint colors on top. My main goal was to create a bit of an impressionistic piece here. It's been a fun couple of days. Hope you like it :)

I've also added the image below. This is the progression of the very same illustration. I started out with an ink pen. I then got some Sani-wipes to wetsmear the ink. I then just submerged the whole thing in the sink. I then added some blue pen, and repeated the process.

I really like the lighting and different values. Really cool how their expressions come across and aren't lost in the rendering. Great sketch!

Either version is awesome in it's own right, but I have to say the black and white original really knocks it out of the park. It stands out and shows so much detail. If I had to choose, it would be the origin piece.

Damn, son. You can draw, you can draw your ass off.

I'll think about it. I'm really interested in creating more "iconic" artwork of the main cast and some other things.

Also, Autovolt, there's only one 's' in Superquad7

Thanks again for all of your replies, especially with the BrBa quotes!

I'd have to agree. As you can tell, the line artwork itself wasn't really a focus, as I tend to have a much tighter style with at least more variation of line weights. From the beginning I had the mindset to just trash the absolute garbage out of the line art with washes and such. I basically only had different ink pens, soap, and water available at the time. The composite is Xeroxes I made of each step. What I'd love to so sometime is have this blown up on a canvas or something and just start throwing a bunch of junk at it. It's totally fun, and I really love the effects of things like that on certain pieces.

Metaphorically, I set out to illustrate the decomposition of both characters with line art and the treatments of it. Notably, Walter White is much more distressed than Jessie. Once in Photoshop, I just wanted to play around with all of the layers (around 20 or so), using transparencies and layer properties for color. I did make two main color layers, mainly just some flats and also one "blue meth" layer, for obvious reasons; it doubles as a sky and also what they got themselves into.

I'd imagine if I just straight up colored this like a "comic book" piece using the line art as an overlay, I'd not like it as well. At any rate, it was a fit of random fun with two of my absolute favorite characters!
