for 2 years i have been dreaming of a Rodimus Prime that isnt a optimus prime repaint.throw sheer dim wittery, bordom, buying a high gloss orange paint to do sunstrom, then seeing he's not that type of orange, having no real reason to paint any thing orange, having to meny sideswipes, seeing that he was pretty tall for a deluxe. but thats after the fact,,i saw a orange labo, and said to myself im doing that. sprayed the whole thing orange and said wait a minute! anyway..... he's going to have the trailer part as well not just sideswipe in his color scheam, thats bogus and lazy.mind you this is the concept stage,, but this is getting finnish so help me..two year iche. o' that guy?...you'll never guess who, well you might.
It's like you got drunk on that last paragraph. But I'd love to see you make it. As for colouscheme, I'd go with the cartoonversion, it's the most iconic one.
I'm liking the look of that - and it reflects the differences in vehicle mode between Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime, which is cool to see. The trailer will be a great addition *thumbs up*
I see where you're going with this idea. For one, the front end of the Lamborghini is perfect for a chest piece for Rodimus Prime. You will though have to flatten the back end with some sculpting putty in order to use it for a trailer hitch properly, or possibly use the hitch from the Universe Optimus 2 pack (the one with the spinny waist). Either that or mold it so that it fits to a trailer of your choice. As for a trailer, I would suggest possibly if you can find it an actual Rodimus Prime trailer. The size would be about right for the mold, and you can update it massively for the weapons, color, etc. I would stick with the toy color scheme only because it will look more in line with the Classics feel of this mold. But using that seeker cannon for his gun? Brilliant. And if I had a spare Sideswipe, I'd probably try to replicate this for myself.
Is the alt mode going to remain as a functional car even without the trailer? I would be interested in seeing how it looks with the legs being black in robot mode. If not and it's going to be altered so that the trailer connects then it doesn't really matter. Personally, I would have gone with the red legs from the toy, with maybe some black added where appropriate... but then again, I always prefered the Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime colouring from the Marvel comic, where the two were very easily distinguished from each other. Looks great though - the difference in size between Classics Rodimus and the Swideswipe mold really works well for the two characters too. Can't wait to see some flame decals added to his chest
You know, that's a pretty swell idea man, nice execution too. BTW, I never realized that mold was so much bigger then the Henkie Hot Rod.
i was only torn about which one would be more color friendly as to breaking up the bright ass orange, more burgandy wasnt going to do the best job at it. so i see why the animaters went that way,,, that much orange and red isnt as cool as you might think..o yeah thats not black..its metallic smoke grey. and i hate the toy with a passion, and he was a cry baby in the cartoon..but for some reason i like this guy..o yeah the move is why i dont read comics at all, old transformers comics looks like stacked boxes running around.
The original toy was indeed on the poor side lol My main interest was in the vehicle mode - how does it look with the smake gray legs? Does the colourscheme work for it as well? That is, if it is important, since there is going to be a trailer as well.
at this piont dude its all theory...i dont even know if it will work out..if it dose then i have 45% of it done my anticipation is as great as your. we'll find out soon enough
