So Banzaitron was one of my favorite action masters. Maybe the mystery of trying to figure out what he might turn into, plus he just looked bad-ass! That coupled with my dislike for the Animated Cybertron form Megatron and the fact that thier bodystyles were very similar, made this a no brainer.
Just need to finish the head sculpt and Razor Sharp (animated Blackarachnia) will replace the cannon. It will be in the same place, connected the same way, its just gonna look 100 times more menacing. Razor Sharp will also stay true to it being a targetmaster as well as a triple changer.

True, Banzai-Tron was a very cool-looking fig, although one of the few I never had the faintest idea of what his alt mode was.

 

He is a voyager class. There is a deluxe version from the battle damage 2pack. I like that one better. I went with this version cuz he's bigger and honestly I just cant warm up to it. Not Hasbros best.

Never really see alot of Action Master kitbashes. Does this guy still Transform, unlike the original? Either way, looks awesome so far.

If I might ask a question, as a newbie- when you were sculpting the face, do you have to bake it or anything of that sort, or does the stuff airdry?

 

Depends on what you're sculpting with; different clays have different ways of using them.

If you're using a polymer clay, like Sculpey, then yeah, you'd have to bake it, which would probably make it a bad idea for a project like this; I've never put TF plastic in the oven at 130, but I imagine it's a bad plan.

Bog-standard air-drying clay is useless for this sort of thing in my experience, as it invariably shrinks as it dries, and doesn't adhere to anything. Plus it often winds up cracking. I only use it because it's cheap, and even then only for gap-filling and bulk-building on terrain work.

Epoxy putty is the best for this sort of thing (Kneadatite/Green Stuff, or Milliput, to name two; I think the Aves products are also in this camp). When you mix the halves together, they're workable for an hour or so, and are pretty adhesive, and cure via a chemical reaction; when they're set, they're pretty much as solid as the plastic you're sculpting onto.

 

Whats in the picture of the face is Sculpey. I used it as a mock-up, kinda like a rough draft. As ramrider said it needs to be baked so obviously you wouldnt use throw the whole piece in the oven. I will be using Milliput for the finished product.
AND YES! Banzaitron will FINALLY have an alt mode. Think Cybertron Megs crossed with the Scimitar (Shinzons ship) from Star Trek Nemesis!

 

I never tire of seeing characters that barely got a second nod to get the spotlight. Radicons has been the stage for many such projects.

I've got very high hopes for this piece.

Me too lol! I actually pulled this gut out the other day. Completely forgot about him. I got pretty busy with commissions and the moving a state away. He should be completed fairly soon. Him, Classics Tracks, Omega, Whirl, Roadbuster, Brawn, Gears, Huffer, Skids and many many others. My workbench looks like the GREAT SHUTDOWN!
