    Voyager and Deluxe Dreads WIP

Good evening all! I haven't seen anybody try this, yet. I don't have any painting skills, but I thought that the DOTM needed a good Voyager Crankcase. I've strayed enough from the design now, so I think I'll call him Dreadwind instead (based on Nizzi's concept art).

I used a TFTM DLX Barricade, DOTM DLX Crankcase and a Recon Ironhide. He is fully transformable with no parts-forming. Thanks to slackerforhire for the Crankcase!

    Edit:

Yay! Thanks to doublej, Hooligan is now ready to join his partners. I'll finish these guys up soon.

I've now started up Crankcase's minion, Dirtbag. He's from a DLX Stockade, and the scale works perfectly... if you think Dirtbag's alt mode is actually a black Mazda 3 hatchback. I used another Barricade, Deluxe Ravage, Cyberverse Hatchet and a TFTM Stockade. Still waiting on my Hooligan donor.

Let me know what you think!!!

    Dreadwind Robot Additions:
    1. Custom, retractable arm blades from DLX Crankcase
    2. Hands from Cyberverse Hatchet
    3. Custom head from DLX Crankcase
    4. Pointed toes
    5. Barbed bombs from Scout Arcee
    6. Barbed bomb holster from Recon Ironhide
    7. Fixed light piping
    8. Weapons from Cyberverse Hatchet (two handed and combined)
    9. Arm mounted melee weapons and hand-held projectile weapons
    10. Projectile Weapons holstered on back
    11. Testing paint sealers
    12. Simplified design - moving a couple of gimmicks to other Voyager Dread, Hooligan

    Hooligan
    1. New head
    2. Custom detachable dreads which double as whips
    3. New hands from Voyager Shockwave
    4. New barb bombs from DLX Barricade
    5. Custom feet
    6. Arm mounted projectile weapons and handheld melee weapons
    7. Double arm-mounted blaster using DLX Crankcase Mechtech

    Dirtbag
    1. New custom based on TFTM Stockade
    2. New head
    3. New cropped tail
    4. Lightbar
    5. Chest and Back spikes
    6. New feet

    AWESOME

what a cool idea. Makes him looks so brutish. love how he towers over sideswipe. i like how you added the hand onto ironhides hands, it works really well, and looks cool when hes holding his gun. arm blades are a nice addition

    Wow! Thanks!

Yeah, I want to add more Crankcase to the Robot mode, so it doesn't look so much like Recon Ironhide with some Crankcase parts. I'll sleep on it. I tried taking off the stripes, too, but that didn't turn out so well. I think that I need to read some tutorials now.

    Agreed.

Though I would like to see something like this with the alt mode made to match his on-screen counterpart.

    Regardless, nice work! :thumb

Awesome stuff! He makes for a very nasty looking voyager. I'm happy to have helped you complete this (even if I didn't know it at the time) :)

That's a great idea and execution is also quite good! And i agree that Dotm Voyager Ironhide mold would be also a good fit for a Crankcase custom since he's the more athletic mold of two.

Been thinking of using DOTM iron hide in a similar way: this looks fantastic great to see crankcase in the scale he deserves!

    You sir are a Genius!!!
    That said, Sweet job.
Makes me wonder now how either ratchet's or Captain America/Ironman hummer mold would work for this same idea.

Thank you for all of the compliments. I think I will try painting for the first time on this figure, since I just want a flat black. I'll need to practice on some leftover DLX Crankcase panels, first, though.

The main reason I went with Recon Ironhide is that we had one relegated to custom duty, since we got the Leader Ironhide. The DOTM Voyager molds are all too small for our taste.

He's the Ironhide in the collection now. I was looking around for model kits to attach a Suburban backend onto the bed, but he's got enough back kibble as it is, so I abandoned that idea. Now, he's just a regular-sized truck while Ironhide is still a Topkick, and that makes it so the scale kinda works.

So, coming up, I'll mod some shoulder cannons so that it's not just Ironhide's guns attached. I wish that there were good Crowbar or Hatchet Voyager/Deluxed sized-heads out there. If there were, I'd do all three like this. I've got an idea for a quadruped Hatchet, but I haven't been able to find a good head.

    Again, thanks for the feedback!

I'll keep a look out for it. I've never seen it here, though.

On the plus side, just got a line on my second Barricade and Recon Ironhide donors! Yay!

Updated Op with new weapons, and first crack at painting.

That looks great! I've been thinking about using my Alternator Nemesis Prime for a custom Human Alliance dread. This makes me want to go through with it even more...

Do it!! So, I'm going to simplify Crankcase here and move some of these ideas over to Crowbar. Parts should be here next week.
