so, whatdya married guys do for vows? right your own? follow a script? or did you and your gal come up with shared vows together..

also, what superstitions did you guys have (if any) im paranoid about seeing my fiance in the dress (i unfortunately saw a picture of her in it and that sucks, but i havent seen her in it, nor will i until she walks down to meet me) and i also have this thing about getting married on the upswing of the clock (ie 30 after to 59 after) and the vows too....i was thinking i dont want her to hear them, but if we cowrite them, theres no way to do that....

We didn't write our own vows or have any superstitions. We just prayed to the Rain God to let us have two hours of beach time without rain. :lol

My wife and I relied on the JP for the vows. I am a little more outspoken and able to speak in front of a group, but my wife is a little more shy.

I like the idea of writing something, but I have been to a few weddings that it has happened and it usually turns into a cry fest and become kind of awkward.

I say keep the personal stuff for the speeches at the reception, while people are drinking...

As for the superstitions thing, well that's up to you.
I didn't want to see my wife before, but that was about it.

We used vows recommended by the priest. And I did see her in the dress before the ceremony. Even saw her get a fitting.

    We're getting divorced now.

I am. We got married the day Reagan died. I'm expecting Jimmy Carter to kick it the day we finalize the divorce.

We modernized traditional marriage vows that were suggested by the pastor who performed the ceremony.

I lived with my wife prior to marriage...but I did not see her in her dress or even the dress itself prior to her walking down the aisle.

At the recommendation of the ceremony's planner, we got married on the upswing of the clock even though neither of us cared.

We did not use the wedding march as my wife came down the aisle and we did not have the money dance at the reception. (I find that dance to be horribly tacky and inappropriate personally.) Everything else was pretty typical.

Oh our families are huge as well. Which is why we limited the whole Hawaii thing to immediate family and a few select aunts and uncles who could actually make the trip. We had a total of 22 people for the trip/wedding.

Oh, and I helped my wife pick out her dress and saw her in it before.

foster.....dude.....man...that is so bad...so very very bad....

and yeah, RW...that sounds like a nice plan, but so much of our family would be bummed by not attending....

oh and we arent using the wedding march either...shes coming down to a song from no doubt, and when i walk out, we are using the star wars theme...IM SO STOKED.....my parents are gonna hate it though, but whatever....

I was kidding about that last part. Humor has been my coping mechanism.

    Humor and strippers.

My cousin used the Final Fantasy theme for his processional. Hired a harpist. I think I was the only relative who got it. I thought it worked really well.

We just went to the Justice of the Peace and let them tell us what to say. Had we known our whole family were going to show up we might have done more.

We had a very non-traditional wedding deal(like having the kids first). Got married on Friday Oct 13th and had a get together with family Saturday then shacked up in a nice resort for 3 days and left our 2 kids with my sister.

    No superstitions with us obviously.

our pastor let us choose which set of vows from a book of different cerimonies. we went the more traditional route. and we got to pick any verses or nething used in the cerimony. my wife wouldn't let me see her or the dress from midnight untill the cerimony at 4 the next afternoon. unfortunetly i saw her right b4 the whole thing. i saw a friend of hers pull up at the same time i did in the parking lot. i thought it was his girlfriend in the car w/him, didn't notice the dress was white.............my wife screamed, "go inside!" and i just stood there for a minuite dumbfounded.

gonna hit 4 years this July 26th
