I have just finished watching episode 1 and 2 of the new Votoms OVA, Pailsen Files. I don't know if the CG battle scenes (2.5MB) are well made or not. It looked very awkward first, but considering this is the first time I watch Scopedogs in CG action I guess it's normal to feel this way. Hope I will get used to it. Beetles; I don't really watch anime so I don't know if the cell anime part is good or not, either. To me Shining Heresy was better drawn. Chirico looks older, though I think this is for us 80s original cartoon fans who are well into our thirties. We can't bear to watch our hero looking like a kid Spoilers Timeline wise, the story is straight after "Root of Ambition". Pailsen is on trial, accused of spending the budget on his personal army "Red Shoulders". Half of the RS troops are confirmed dead and the rest is missing (they are the ones in "The Last Red Shoulder", I assume). In the meantime Chirico is sent to a deadly mission, and while he struggles to survive, he is observed by Wotcomb (sp?), who is a head of the intelligence department, and his assistant Rochina. Chirico was the only survivor and while still injured he was sent to another frontline, and there he was joined by 3 others to form a special troop. One of the soldiers, Zaki was the young boy who has tried to murder Chirico. (When asked why, he answers, "I felt it...because of him, I am going to die") Tease for DVD Vol 2; http://www.votoms.net/pailsen/special/votms_pailsen_files_02_pv_l.asx
I'd love to watch this, but I haven't even gotten around to finishing Shining Heresy yet (and I've had that for quite a while now thanks to SydneyY). Stupid work taking up my time....
Has this and Shining Heresy been subbed without me noticing or are people watching them raw at the moment?
And I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to watch it without understanding much about the dialogue That series is only good once it gets to ep 4 or so anyway IMO. So it's an OK quality in today's standard? I am glad. I haven't heard of subbed versions, either, but then I am not really looking. Shining Heresy is quite frustrating to watch without knowing what's going on I imagine, because it lacks good action scenes. Pailsen file has started in a similar way (except for the slaughter at the beginning) but it being longer than Shining Heresy I have more hope.
I say "pretty cool" because I have no idea what the series is about. If I did, I'd say it's very awesome.
Just necromancing this thread to point out that the first two episodes have shown up fansubbed today, not to mention that the 80s Roots of Ambition OVA came out last week as well.
Sweet, glad to hear it. I'll definitely be checking these out at some point, good to see I'll at least be able to know what's going on.
