What Mattel figures are people talking about? The DC universe figures? I see those things everywhere (both 6" scale & 3.75" scale). I don't follow the line so I don't know if I see all of them but I do see figures from the line in every store I look for toys in.

If I am worried about anything, it is the quality of the toys. Are Mattel figures the same quality as Star Wars/GI Joe/TF figures? I don't own any so I have no referece to their quality.

How is this good news? Are some of you unfamiliar with Mattel?

Good luck trying to find these in stores. Good luck trying to score them on MattyCollector.com if they offer them there.

    God damn it Fuzzy!

When it comes to distribution, yes. Since the demise of the MOTU 2002 line and even during, they have constantly said "no it's the retailers tell them" but no, Mattel has fault in that too albeit not all. Distribution for DCUC and even DCSH was bad.

They MAKE good stuff, no doubt, in some of their lines, but finding them is a chore. I was set to be a DCUC completist until I couldn't find most of the stuff and just gave up. Now I cherry pick from whatever I can find, whenever I can find anything.

Lets just hope that the new Voltron toys kick ass.

Yeah, Mattel distrobution worries me as does the worry (hopefully I'll find out more at Comicon since I haven't been able to het a response yet) about what this means for the Voltron Shogun Warriors that Toynami was bringing on....as an old SW and Jumbo Machinder collector I was REALLY looking forward to those...

I think Toynami's will still be released, I don't think either company had a global license for Voltron, but I might be wrong.

i have faith that the mattel stuff will be good, i was super excited when they released voltron back in the late 90's? i just remember not being able to afford the actual robots, but i had some of the figures. any voltron toys are better than no voltron toys i always say :)

That was Trendmasters, the last time Mattel released Voltron toys was in the mid 80's.

That's some good news (I didn't know they scored the license--missed this thread).

On another note, what the hell did they do to Winston's head?! (I'll take that to the GB thread--had to comment though).

With the size and the figures that sounds a lot like the old Panosh Place toys from the 80's, only not as sucky. (although back then I LOVED that set)

I'm not quite the Voltron fan I was as a kid, but depending on how these turn out I may just have to dive back in...

    Voltron Toys Incoming...

No pics yet unfortunately, but still awesome news imo. I passed on the Voltron sets that hit a few years ago and now I'm glad I did!

    Fuck. Matty. Collector. Exclusives.

I hope it sucks. That way I won't want it and I can be happy!

I'm eager to see what the new cartoon's toys look like.

I figured with all the new releases coming the Toyark needed a Voltron thread anyway. And why is matty collector so reviled? I see trash talk about them often, but I've never dealt with them. Have hope though since they said once the regular toys start hitting the shelves they will mix in the exclusives at retail.
