So today I ran a scan on my computer and it found a Trojan virus. Not a big deal I thought, since I get them all the time and they're usually deleted as soon as their discovered. But this one can't be quarantined and I don't know how to get rid of it. I'm using Bell Internet Security as my anti-virus which has served me well for many years and the virus is located under Windows Defender/Scan. Could I not just delete Windows Defender to get rid of it? I don't know how to delete the specific file so should I just delete the whole thing? I don't remember ever using it (it says it hasn't been accessed since 2008)and it'd solve my problem right away I would think. I'm a little virus jumpy after a got one a few months ago that basically melted my computer. Any suggestions?
My only suggestion might be to try to boot into safe mode using the msconfig menu and try scanning/quarantining from there. Otherwise you could try a bootable virus scanner like Rescue CD | PC Rescue and Repair Toolkit | AVG Canada No guarantees of course, but it sounds like if you can catch it before windows loads you might be able to quarantine it.
I'll try that, thanks. I'm running another scan right now and set the Antivirus to just delete as soon as it's found, but if not I'll try that.
Next time your computer fucks up, I recommended injecting an antivirus from your nose and through your USB port. Fire against fire.
