I got this the other day for Xbox360, and its fantastic... but not without some flaws.

The graphics are very swish, at least from the normal side on view you get at the start of bouts. And during bouts, you're not looking at anything but the other guy. But during replays and victory poses, sometimes you get to see other bits of the background, and I swear, you can see the individual pixels on a texture stretched out over a mountain. I guess on Standard Definition TV you wouldn't notice this, but I think its odd, seeing as VF5 was in a HD cabinet in the arcades. I wonder if the PS3 has these texture problems as well? In any case, sloppy textures should be a thing of the past in this new HD age.

Anyone on here playing this online? I ask because the Online has been a bit of a wake up call. While single player is fairly easy going, bear in mind, I've been playing Virtua Fighter for over 10 years (!) starting with VF2 on Saturn, all the way up to VF4:Evolution.

Since VF3 I've always considered myself to be an expert player with Sarah, at one of my previous jobs where everybody played games I was pretty much the best VF player in the company. So with unassailable confidence I went online to pwn XboxLIVE. Boy, was I in for a shock.

I lost my first 2 bouts. Whoops.

Since then my record has been much better, and I 'think' I can rate myself as one of the better players (supposedly I'm 4th best in the world at score attack, with Sarah on route 1) and fighting online I 'think' I'm above average. I definitely destroy lower rank players, but the quality of players is definitely varied.

I mean, this one time there was a guy playing Jacky, with a much higher rank then me. He favoured just hammering away and using Jackys superior speed to just pile in there... which obviously worked against a lot of players, hence his rank. I think he won the first round, until I got his measure and thoroughly punished him for his insolence.

Then another guy was using Shun, but I figured he has a low rank, no problem... except I didn't notice his win ratio was 100%. Obviously he had just started playing online... and totally pwned me all over the ring. Ouchie.

Anyway, online has boosted my game somewhat (which can only be a good thing) but I want to test my mettle against people from here. Just because.

By the way, P33king DUCK says 'yo' Mama is fat and you smell like poo.'

    You wanna fight about it?

I have it, I love it, I'm no good at it. I was pretty good at VF2 but past that my dedication to learning how to really play fighters has dropped significantly, the fact that growing up and friends having their own lives to attend to was a big factor since we couldn't get together much leaving us all to single player fights.

Virtua Figher series is the best 3-D Fighter, hands down. I've played 5 on PS3 and its just as good as Virtua Fighter 4 Evo. Online play must be where its at though, gotta love 360.

its tempting, but i'm gonna hold out for soul caliber to replace doa4. only enough time for one fighter at a time.

Ooh, intriguing. For $40 I can't NOT get it. I got the demo and played it a little, yeah, it's still Virtua Fighter, but I wasn't going to pay $60 for it. $40, on the other hand, maybe...I played alot of VF4Evolution and it was alot of fun. Does this still have the quest mode for dominating the local "arcades"?

I haven't played online yet but I'm practicing a lot with Jacky in single player. I love the game though, it's a lot of fun.

Yeah, that VF5 arcade stick is next on my hit list.

And the music is atrocious, but it sort of gets zoned out after a while... must because I'm in the virtua zen zone of kickass.

I saw you playing this yesterday, Vanessa in Quest?

Next time I see you I'll fire up VF5 as well, I need a short break from Mass Effect anyway.

oh! i think i'm going to need one. there are moves in vf5 that are nearly impossible to do on a pad.
