Eeh, why not? The Viewmaster itself will probably just be a mcguffin to set the premise of the story or something. Probably be just like the glasses in National Treasure or the stone with the hole in in The Spiderwick Chronicles. Or maybe it'll be some kind of portal way to another reality like the magical ticket in Last Action Hero. So the story won't actually be about Viewmaster, but it'll just be another way to tell the same old kind of adventure story we always get but hung off the idea of the Viewmaster being a (likely very small) part of it.

I predict there'll be a Chosen Kid, probably a loner son of a single mother and he's bullied at school and is misunderstood. He'll discover magical Viewmaster discs and find out he's The View Master and he'll use the discs and viewing toy to see stuff others can't see. Him and his Goonies-like pals, other oddball outcast kids (and maybe the kid who bullies him but they come to a respectful understanding of each other by the end of the movie because the bully is actually a victim of his father beating him) gather around him as they all learn they have value as people after all. They'll go have an adventure based around and off of what the lead kid sees through the Viewmaster and also find and rescue his missing father who vanished years ago after trying to use the magical Viewmaster discs himself. And there will also be treasure found which will save his other parent from losing their home after she lost her job. Happy ending and credits roll.

There, this shit almost writes itself.

Dammit! I totally missed that obvious trick! Lots of people looking dumb in theatres while wearing 3D glasses that look like Viewmasters.

Hmmm. This does have potential, I think. For some reason, I think it would have a "Gatica" feel.
