This is a thread simply about video games that are so amazing, in any way, that any gamer or non-gamer alike's life would be incompleate without experiencing (even if it's a breif experience).

I'm just going to start off with Halo 3.

An English version of SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Online. I'm in love with the principles of it.

    Super Mario Bros.
    Galaga
    Ms. Pac Man
    Tetris
    Street Fighter 2
    Metal Gear Solid

I'm of the opinion that anything newer hasn't had the benefit of time necessary to establish essential status. But there are definitely some candidates.

Hey, yeah, cool idea! There are a few games out there that are totally classic and have really stood the test of time. Some of them have impressive storylines and characters, others are important for changing / creating genres and trends and some are just total classics.

    Wh-what? No. Just no.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night would be my first suggestion. My favorite 2D game ever made, so I'd say it's a shining example of the best of side scrollers. Then, maybe Grand Theft Auto 3 to show a great example an early sandbox/open world game. Then Bioshock, because no other game seems to have such good atmosphere. Mass Effect to show that a game can be every bit as good of making up a sci-fi world as movies.

I also want to add Final Fantasy 6, since I feel it's the best example of a menu combat/JRPG.
