Well, we got the opposite in the VG forum now... so...
You don't have to outright hate the game, you can just not like it as much as others. For instance, I don't like Uncharted 3 as much as everyone else. But I don't hate it... Or, you can Hate something. Like extreme loathing. Like... I extremely loathe any Crash Bandicoot game after Naughty Dog stopped making them.

    So, yeah... Proceed.

Soul Calibur IV. I rather play Shaq Fu over this banal, inane button masher. That game killed the Soul Calibur franchise to me.

Grand Theft Auto IV. Quite possibly the most overrated game of this console generation aside Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 3. The controls weren't as good as GTA III, Vice City or San Andreas and it focused too much on realism.

Metroid (NES). This game aged poorly. It's, IMO, the worst game in the franchise aside Other M and Metroid Prime Hunters.

Recent Final Fantasy games. I only cared about FFI to FFVII and FFIX.

Kingdom Hearts. I never saw the appeal of this series.

MvC3. I own it and hate it. The control scheme is so overly complicated compared to MK. Also don't like Bulletstorm. It's just a ripoff of Gears.

The Mortal Kombat series in general.
The Final Fantasy series in general.
    Batman (NES)
Umm...I don't hate Earthbound, but I don't care much for it (even if I did make a note of listing it among the SNES's top titles in another thread from a while back)
Baten Kaitos (I've only ever met one person other than me and my brother who has ever played the game, but he loved it and it garnered good reviews...my brother and I both thought it was awful)

I'm actually finding this a bit difficult. I seem to rarely contrast with popular opinion on video games.

Fallout 3 is definitely on this list for me. Half Life 2: Episode Two was also not nearly as great as everyone seems to regard it as.

First Person Shooters in general... but out of those I hate the Halo series the most.

    Final Fantasy.
    I can't stand it.
Which is annoying since one of my friends is a vehement defender of the series against practically any insult (Considering he immediately pre-ordered 13-2, the sequel to the one he actually admits to it's flaws, solely because a trailer featuring no gameplay looked good, it gets more than a little annoying).

I know there's plenty of dudes who don't like them, but I'm not fond of any FPS. Not my thing. Only FPS I like is when you change the gameplay style on StarWars Battlefront from 3rd person to FPS Mode. Thats all.

Also, sports games and most racing games. Not my thing either.

Don't look very fondly on the only Ratchet and Clank game I've played... But that was on PSP, so I don't know.

Gears of War. Bought the first one when I got my 360, just couldn't get into it at all.

the COD series. Ill never understand why people like the games so much, its always the same thing over and over again and when other games (Battlefield, Halo Reach) are tons better it makes no sense to me why people go so apeshit over them

Gears Of War series. ive played 1 and 2 and they are just plain terrible games, granted I dont like 3rd person shooters but the controls are just plain bad and the games are freakin ugly

    Call of Duty

    Meh.

    Fable series

    Blegh.

Madden, NBA, MLB, or any other sports game.

    UGH. :mad

It's the same fucking thing over and over again with those games. By the time they come out they're innacurate because a player got switched to a different team. No difference in graphics in the last three years, nothing unique or revolutionary about them but people love to blow off nearly $70 on these damn things, my little brother being one of them.
I hate sports. Only played a few when I was a little kid because of my parents wanting me to. Playing tackle football as a kid and getting a concussion probably lead to why I suck at learning. Should have learned to paint or play the piano instead.

Final Fantasy 7. I gave it a shot, and it just bored me to tears. I think I just don't have the patience for JRPGs (or any RPGs that aren't Pokemon, for that matter).

I concur. I couldn't even enjoy Deus Ex, and that seemed more like an FPS than an RPG.

The two I can think of off the top of my head:

Halo series: I really dont understand it. It has everything that should make me love a game. Action, good music, sci-fi setting. But every time I have tried to play it, it is just plain boring. In short, I should love this game, but somehow they fucked it up and made it boring.

Call of Duty: First off, the first Call of Duty was amazing. After that it was a bit down hill. Once Modern Warfare hit, it was in a complete freefall of shittyness. The games are awful. Controls are floaty beyond belief, regenerating health, plot seems to be stolen by the worst of the worst action movies. On top of all that, the whole game gives off a certain vibe, kinda like a child who is trying way too hard to be cool.

COD series, except for the first 3, they were amazing
    Shadow of the Colossus
    ANY Mario game
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time (that literally has to be THE MOST overrated game in history)
    Soul Calibur IV

Very, very difficult games. The Ninja Gaiden series, Demon's Souls, etc.

I respect that there are gamers who love a challenge and enjoy the supreme satisfaction of beating a hard ass game. However, I've just never cared for that. Going bald from frustration just isn't my idea of fun.

Every Call of Duty after 4
Every Spyro and Crash Bandicoot game after the original developers, Insomniac and Naughty Dog respectively, stopped making them
    The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

That's all the ones I can think of at the moment.

Modern First Person Shooters like Modern Warfare. I prefer fast paced futuristic shooters and gory ones. I generally prefer games that do not attempt to be realistic. If I wanted reality, I would go outside and not play a video game.

The best First Person Shooter is still Quake. Sadly it looks very dated by now. And Descent is very cool.

P.S.: But I hate Halo as well.

You should play Dark Forces :)

    Oh wait...
The biggest hate I have for games and I really can't understand why the fuck someone could really like those games are these:
Every Sims game, all the games people play on sites like Facebook

And I don't really hate it, but I can't understand the hype for GTA. I liked the first two GTA games a bit and the 3D games of GTA got me interested even less.

And I hate sport games. Except for Speedball II on the Amiga :D

Uh and most Wii games. I want to play games with a controller and I rarely want to play those casual games. Some make fun, but most seem ******ed.

In a lot of cases I find myself liking a certain game or game series, but I see people online just go apeshit over them. Definitely throw me in on the COD bandwagon. I don't hate it, but it seemed like it hit major kill all sales amounts of popularity overnight. I played a couple, the most recent being Modern Warfare 2, just to see if I was really missing out. I don't know, there was nothing particularly amazing about it- I assume, being over 30, that it must just really appeal to a teen crowd given they are the ones most likely to be able to play online for enough hours to really be competitive. However, I just don't know why they wouldn't choose a game that plays better or at least had a more interesting subject matter. I don't think Halo or Gears game are necessarily the greatest games ever, but I like the general controls and the atmosphere and settings a lot more then any of the CODs.

I might get a lot of hissing for this, but I also don't really think the Uncharted series is as good as it's often hailed as being. I enjoy them, and I get impressed by the production values, but the gunplay isn't really the best and the climbing and puzzle solving I see in quite a few other games done as well if not better.

Also, the God of War series. Again this is a series with high production values, but it was like taking Devil May Cry, putting it in a setting I find far less interesting with a character I can't really care about, and adding quicktime button presses, which I think is second only to escort missions as a bad game design choice. This is another case where I like the series, I enjoy it, but at the end of the day I wouldn't replay it nor would I rate any of them higher then an 8, which is still a good rating, but I see it get far better scores then that all the time.

I also see other people bringing up FF7. I loved the game, I did, but I think its presentation made people not realize how it really didn't live up to the quality of FF6. I would say FF7 is a pretty great game all around, but just not the best, or even in the top 4 or 5 Final Fantasy games.

I concur on Demon Soul. I understand the feeling of accomplishment after defeating a part of a game that's killed you off a lot, but I have to choose what I play during my gaming time wisely. If I sit down for a couple hours, I don't want to be beaten the whole time and get nothing accomplished besides frustration.
