I recall a Sonic the Hedgehog anime... (Yes there are lots of Sonic cartoons, but this one had Knuckles in a cowboy get up and a human catgirl.)

Disgaea's got a pretty good anime, as does Street Fighter (Well, some of them) and Darkstalkers. I'd also say Final Fantasy Unlimited... but that wasn't even based on one of the games. They made it to America thankfully, so did the Sonic anime mentioned above.

As for animes that never made it to America at all... the only proper original Megaman anime was alright and it never made it here.

    pardon?

the first Megaman animation in japan was .EXE/Battle Network. The only time the original Megaman has been in an anime was in the "Wish upon a star" OAV that ADV brought to the US a few years back.

I said original Megaman to exclude EXE/NT Warrior... but I wasn't aware the OVA was dubbed, the only time I ever saw it was subtitled.

Dragon Quest Abel (I believe that's the name)

Part of the series was shown on tv over here as Dragon Warrior, but they never finished it.

The last couple of episodes of Monster Rancher, along with the entire 2nd season were never shown in the US.

I'm pretty sure we didn't get the last Rockman.exe series. I think there's a new series based off Starforce (can't remember the Japanese name). No idea if we're getting that at all.

That's about all I can think of.

Tales of Eternia: The Animation - not actually an adaptation of the game, it's a side-story.

Tales of Phantasia - a four-episode OVA series that highlights key points of the game's story. It was released in North America earlier this year by Geneon, with a dub by Bang Zoom! Entertainment.

Tales of Symphonia - again, a four-part OVA based on the game.

Xenosaga - The Animation - a 13 (?) episode series, based on the first game. Currently licensed by ADV.

Devil May Cry - currently running in Japan, it's already been licensed by ADV.

Seems all the Rockman.exe intros got wiped in one of the YouTube purges, or else I would have linked those too...

You are correct Smangerbot. A TV series called Zone of the Enders, Doloris I and a OVA movie Zone of the Enders, Idilo. Idilo is a prequel to Doloris I.

I heard there was a godawful Ninja Gaiden anime that was made after the second NES game came out, don't know how bad it was.

What I've seen of the Ninja Gaiden anime was like watching any bad ninja movie from the 80's except animated.

actually that sonic anime did come over. Just titled "Sonic: The Movie" Not that good. It isn't remotely canon but it does have a decent fight between Sonic and Metal Sonic.
