Palo Alto Online : SAP Palo Alto vice president arrested for LEGO scam

VP of Palo Alto's SAP Arrested in LEGO Bar Code Scam | NBC Bay Area

SAP AG - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He was a big LEGO seller on eBay tomsbrickyard | eBay I remember seeing auctions from him all the time when I browsed the 'Bay for sets.

For someone who is super rich, it's pretty shitty that he went to such lengths just so he could buy sets at a significant discount and flip them on eBay for more money. You'd think his already high paying job would be enough. Apparently not.

Langenbach used the barcodes at Target to buy the sets at supercheap prices only to then flip them for profit on eBay. Sucks, he was a good seller, but the law's the law.

    LEGO is serious business.

Well to be fair, 7 packages of interchangeable plastic blocks selling for around $1000 is absurd. I say LEGO is the real bandit here!

Yeah, this guy's just a victim of the times. I mean, it's not like he yanked the head off a mini'fig through his travels or anything...

Creative sentencing: for the rest of his life, he has to unintentionally stand on a Lego brick at least once every day.

I remember when a couple of idiots tried this where I used to work, and they'd have gotten away with too... if they weren't stupid enough to try & return the shit for their full price without changing the barcodes back. Not like that'd have helped because they also used their employee cards when buying the shit in the firstplace & did it at the same time (yeah, there were multiple fails in this), but funny shit was funny, especially since they'd apparently thought this shit was foolproof.

So a guy with a multimillion dollar estate was switching bar codes on Lego for profit to sell on eBay?

    WTF?

Well, how do you think he amassed such wealth in the first place? By working a regularly constant job or being a successful market player?

Never! It was clearly all from selling stolen lego, clearly.

No kidding. Lego prices have gone up a lot in the past few years, especially the licensed sets like Star Wars and Marvel.
