    Gay.

If South Park and all those shows get more exposure, who cares?

I have no use for Youtube now that South Park and Family Guy are gone.

Why is it that everything fun gets taken away? :(

No sympathy for You Tube or the tightarses who use it to watch illegal copies of commercially available copywrited material, but I wouldent be surprised if Viacom are just slapping them around a bit to get a better advertising revenue share then other folks are getting.

Viacom isn't smart at all. Anyone remember when they tried to remove & shutdown all the Star Trek fansites a few years ago?

Viacom had about 10,000 clips pulled off YouTube a month or so back. The week that followed they had a 9% increase in traffic to their own sites, selling their own advertising, and thus made millions of extra dollars.

Times that by the 150,000 estimated clips still on there illegally, times several years… A billion dollars suddenly looks like it's backed up by the maths.

Plus there's some scope for punitative damages simply because the clips were there without permission, never mind any losses incurred.

Viacom apparently tried to negotiate but couldn't work something out with YouTube?

Well, based on the facts, YouTube better be prepared to fork over.

So If I go to the viacom sight, I can watch 80s Nick commercials? If so, then by all means, pull them off you tube. That's all I was saying.

Money will drive men to heinous deeds - sometimes legally, sometimes not.

No arguments. And poor quality (the vids), too!

They did that!? Jeez, these slimey bastards keep ruining everyone's fun. As for this news, Viacom's gonna have to realize that if they pull off more and more of their stuff off of Youtube, then there's probably not gonna be anything left to watch there, except original movies and spam vids of people doing pointless shit just to make them look good on cyberspace.

Hmm. 'Massive Intentional Copyright Infringement'. I don't know if they can make that 'intentional' stick, what with all the disclaimers about uploading copyrighted material.

Man, I need to re-learn how to download off youtube. There are some awesome clips on there from shows that will never, ever, ever be released on DVD.
